Saturday, October 7, 2017 Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision: C17-226140 On October 7, 2017, at approximately 1:40 a.m. emergency personnel responded to the area of London St. and Amelia Cr. regarding a serious single vehicle collision. An adult male was transferred to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries. The investigation has determined that a male, identified as Leyland MCDOUGAL, 29-years-old of Winnipeg was operation a motorcycle northbound on London St. when he lost control of the motorcycle and crashed. The driver was not wearing a helmet and sustained critical injuries. A passer-by came upon the accident a short time later and notified emergency services. Friday, October 6, 2017    Child Sexual Abuse Imagery - Arrest: R17-81617 On October 5, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit was notified of an investigation involving the New Zealand Digital Child Exploitation Team. New Zealand Police reported that between September 26 - 26, 2017 several images of child sexual abuse were shared in an on-line chat room by a male from an IP address determined to be located in Winnipeg.     On October 5, 2017, members of the ICE Unit, with the assistance of members from the East District Station, executed a search warrant in the East Elmwood area of Winnipeg. A short time later, an adult male was arrested at a residence in the Central Burrows area.     Iain Alexander TOD,25 -years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences: Sexual Assault Sexual Interference Possession of Child Pornography Imports, Distributes, Sells or Possess for the Purpose of Distribution of Sale any Child Pornography Makes, prints, Publishes, or Possess for the Purpose of Publication any Child Pornography   He was detained in custody. Forensic analysis and the investigation are continuing. Thursday, October 5, 2017     Vehicle Robbery: C17-223996 On October 4, 2017 at approximately 7:30 p.m. Winnipeg Police were advised that a male was robbed of his vehicle in the rear lane of the first 100 block of Bayridge Ave.     General Patrol members attended and learned that the victim had stopped his vehicle when he was confronted by a male in possession of a handgun who demanded the victim's vehicle.  The suspect struck the victim in the head with the handgun at which point the victim turned over the keys to his vehicle. The suspect robbed the victim of his wallet before fleeing in the victim's vehicle.     The vehicle is has not been located and is described as: 2016, White, Nissan Rogue with a vertical scratch on the back door, bearing Manitoba licence plate HBG 521.     This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Tuesday, October 3, 2017     Robbery - Arrest: C17-222335 On October 2, 2017 Winnipeg Police were called to the 300 block of Kennedy St. for the report of a male, armed with a firearm, assaulting security guard at this location.     Members of the Winnipeg Police Tactical Support Team responded and upon observing the suspect in the area of Kennedy St. and Ellice Ave., the suspect pointed a handgun at the officers while travelling in their vehicle. Officers stopped and the suspect fled while continuing to point the handgun behind him towards officers.     The suspect male was located in the rear parking lot of Portage Place and taken into custody. A replica handgun was located nearby.     The victim reported that he was confronted by the male who was attempting to gain entry to a building in the area. When the male was refused entry he removed a handgun, pointed it at the victim, threatened to shoot him, and attempted to rob the victim of his personal belongings. The victim was able to escape and notify police.     Oliver SCOTT, 29-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences: Robbery Pointing a Firearm Uttering Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm Mischief Under $5000 Pointing a Firearm X2 Public Mischief Fail to Comply with Recognizance X3 Fail to Comply with Probation Order X2   He has been detained in custody.     Stabbing - Arrest:C17-221599 On October 2, 2017 Winnipeg Police were notified of a male stabbed in the 300 block of Ellice St. General Patrol members attended and located a 19-year-old male with upper body injuries. He was transported to hospital in stable condition.     Officers searched the area and located a suspect male a short distance away.     The investigation revealed that a verbal confrontation took place between the victim and the suspect which quickly escalated. A second suspect stabbed the victim numerous times in the upper body and head area causing the victim to fall to the ground. Both suspects continued to physically assault the victim as he lay on the ground. They then left the area on foot.     Tyrone James BARKMAN, 21-years-old of Garden Hill, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences: Assault Assault with a Weapon Fail to Comply with Probation X2 Fail to Comply with Recognizance X2   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Tuesday, October 3, 2017     Wanted - Manslaughter: C17-161171 The Winnipeg Police Service Homicide Unit is requesting the public's assistance in locating the following male:     Jason Scott WOODHOUSE, 23-years-old, of Winnipeg       He is described as Indigenous, 6', 300 lbs, with short black hair and brown eyes.     On July 21, 2017, at approximately 10:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the 700 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. Robbery - Arrests: C17-211332

On September 20, 2017 at approximately 6:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police responded to the report of a residential robbery in the 1100 block of Selkirk Ave. It was reported that the suspects were armed with Firearms.

The victim advised that an unknown number of people forcibly entered his residence, assaulted him, produced a firearm and demanded money. The suspects demanded the victim's car keys and fled with two vehicles.

On September 21, 2017 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Officers observed one of the stolen vehicles being operated in the area of Main St. and Bannerman Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and a 21-year-old female was taken into custody. She was in possession of 7.5 grams of Methamphetamine.

On September 27, 2017 at approximately 2:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police members observed the second stolen vehicle being operated in the area of Charles St. and Manitoba Ave. A traffic stop was conducted and an adult male and three adult females were taken into custody. A can of pepper spray, .60 grams of methamphetamine, score sheets, scales and several cell phones were seized from within the vehicle.

On September 30, 2017 at approximately 3:44 p.m. general patrol officers and members of the tactical Support Team attended to the 1600 block of Ross Ave. after the reports of the firearm seen at this location. Police located five shotgun shells and an inoperable shotgun in the residence. An adult male and an adult female were taken into custody. It was determined that the male was responsible for the residential robbery on September 20, 2017.

Drug - Arrest: C17-219068

On September 28, 2017 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crimes Unit entered into a drug investigation. 

On September 29, 2017 at approximately 10:25 AM, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act Search Warrant in the first 100 block of Fairgrove Bay.

 

With the assistance of the Winnipeg Police Service K9 Unit, police were able to locate the following items within the residence:

• 578 grams of Cocaine
• 850 grams of Cannabis Resin
• 113 Pills of 40 mg OxyContin
• 400 grams of cutting agent
• Cell phone, packaging material, and drug mixing equipment
• $ 31,050.00 CDN currency
• .32 caliber handgun, with one loaded magazine chambered and another loaded magazine
• .9 mil handgun, with one loaded magazine chambered
• .9 mil handgun, with one loaded magazine chambered

 

Total amount of drugs seized is valued at approximately $59,260.00

 

Kevin William LAVALLE, 33-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences:

Weapon - Arrests: C17-221303

On October 1, 2017, at approximately 4:45 p.m., a 17-year-old male boarded a Winnipeg Transit Bus near the intersection of Main and Manitoba. The male was in possession of an 18-inch machete, which he concealed down the left leg of his jeans.

Winnipeg Police Service foot patrol members were present on the bus and observed the handle of the machete sticking out of the male's waist band. Officers were able to safely arrest the male on the transit bus.

A 17-year-old male has been charged with Possess Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose and Carry Concealed Weapon.

Stabbing - Arrest: C17-220848

On October 1, 2017, at approximately 2 a.m., Winnipeg responded to the report of male stabbed in the area of Main St. and Selkirk Ave.  

The investigation revealed that dispute took place between several parties which resulted in an adult female being assaulted, causing her to fall to the ground and further assaulted.

 

During this confrontation, an adult male was stabbed serval times in the upper body. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition and later upgraded to stable condition.

 

Tyson Cody LITTLE, 26-years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with Assault and detained in custody.

Serious MVA/Pedestrian Collision: C17-221069

On October 1, 2017, at approximately 11:13 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Logan Ave. and Quelch St. regarding a serious collision involving a female pedestrian.

The female was transported to hospital in critical condition where she underwent surgery. She remains in critical condition.
