Thursday, October 12, 2017   Weapons - Arrest: C170229848 On October 11, 2017 at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received a call regarding a male armed with what appeared to be handgun in the area of 700 William Ave., the Health Sciences Centre. Officers present at the hospital on an unrelated matter quickly responded and located an adult male outside of the hospital and placed him under arrest.   Officers learned that the suspect confronted a male not previously known to him outside the hospital. The confrontation escalated and the suspect pulled out what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at the victim. After the confrontation, the suspect tossed the firearm on to the lower roof of the Health Sciences Centre.   The weapon was located and found to be an imitation, modified firearm.   Gregory Charles KLYNE, 32-years-old, of Winnipeg has been charged with Possess Weapon.   He was detained in custody.     Commercial Robbery– Investigation: C170230345 On October 11, 2017 at approximately 11:10 p.m., Winnipeg Police members responded to a report of a robbery in progress at a business in the 1800 block of Pembina Highway.    The victim reported that a male armed with firearm and with his face concealed, demanded money and fled.  The male successfully stole approximately $1000 in cash.   No one was injured as a result of the incident.    This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).      Break & Enter – Arrests: C170230436 On October 12, 2017 at approximately 2:20 a.m., Winnipeg Police members responded to a report of three people attempting to break in to a business in the 1100 block of Munroe Avenue.    General patrol attended, three males fled on foot, and officers engaged in a foot pursuit.   With the collective efforts of the Canine Unit, General Patrol, and Air1, they were able to apprehend all parties a short distance away.   It was determined that the suspects stole assortment bottles liquor.   The following males have been arrested:   Corbin DUMAS, 19-years-old Jesse Thompson, 18-years-old Charles WESLEY, 27-years-old   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     Male Shot - Investigation: C170230466 On October 12, 2017 at approximately 4:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service were notified of an injured male lying on the roadway in the area of Simcoe St. and Sargent Ave. General Patrol officers attended and located a 25-year-old male suffering from upper body injuries. He was transported to hospital in unstable condition. It was determined that the victim sustained a knife wound and a gunshot wound to the upper body.   This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Wednesday, October 11, 2017     Serious Motor Vehicle Collision: C17-228748 On October 10, 2017 at approximately 9:20 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Portage Ave. and Sherbrook St.  An adult female was taken to hospital in unstable condition where she was stabilized.          Upon further assessment by medical staff, it was determined that the female's injuries were more serious than originally believed. As a result, members of the Winnipeg Police Central Traffic Collision Investigation Unit returned to the scene for examination.     The injured female remains in hospital, in stable condition.     The driver of the motor vehicle, identified as an off duty officer, remained at scene. He advised that was travelling east-bound on Portage Avenue when he struck a pedestrian.     The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba was notified and continues to investigate.           Update: Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision - Arrest: C17-229308 As previously released: On October 10, 2017 at approximately 8:00 p.m. emergency services responded to the area of Main Street and Sutherland Avenue regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. An adult male was transported to hospital in critical condition and later succumbed to his injuries.     The investigation has led to the arrest of an off duty Winnipeg Police officer.     The Independent Investigations Unit was notified immediately and took control of the investigation. Members of the Central Traffic Collision Investigation Unit are assisting the investigation under the direction of the Independent Investigation Unit.     The investigation has revealed that at approximately 8:00 p.m. an adult male was crossing Main St from West to East in the area of Main St. and Sutherland Ave. when he was struck by a motor vehicle.     On October 10, 2017 Constable Justin Holz, 34-years-old of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with Drive While Ability Impaired Causing Death and Failure to Stop at the Scene of Accident Involving Death. KING was last seen in the Windsor Park area of Winnipeg on the morning of October 3, 2017.  KING is described as Caucasian, 6'1", slim build, short white hair, with facial stubble. Monday, October 10, 2017    Robbery: C17-226562 On October 7, 2017 at approximately 2:30 p.m. Winnipeg Transit contacted Winnipeg Police reporting an adult female on a bus who reported being assaulted prior to getting on the bus. Emergency service personnel attended and the victim was transported to hospital in stable condition.     General patrol officers met with the victim who advised that at approximately 2:00 p.m. she was waiting for a bus in the area of McGregor St. and Jefferson Ave. when she was confronted by two unknown females. One of the suspects pulled the victim backwards causing her to fall to the ground and bang her head after which the suspects kicked the victim several times and stole her cell phone and money.     The suspects are described as follows: Suspect #1: Indigenous female, late teens, approximately 5'1" with a small build and red/brown hair     Suspect #2: Indigenous female, late teens, approximately 5'1" with a large build and long dark hair     This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).         Theft - Arrest: C17-136386 Between March 21, 2017 and August 15, 2017 a series of thefts of lottery tickets took place at various convenience stores, gas stations and other small businesses in the City of Winnipeg.     On October 9, 2017 members of the Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit attended to a residence in St. George, Manitoba where they located and arrested and adult male.     Jonathan Roy FITZSIMMONS, 29-years-old of St. George, Manitoba has been charged with the following offences: Theft Under $5000 X32 Robbery Possess Weapon   As previously released on July 27, 2017: The Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit has been investigating a series of thefts that have taken place over the past several months. The thefts have occurred at locations throughout the city.     The suspect in these thefts has gone to various convenience stores where sleeves of lottery tickets have been stolen after distracting the clerk. Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for over thirty thefts.         Traffic Pursuit - Arrest: C17-2282702 On October 6, 2017 at approximately 5:40 a.m. 2016 Ford F150 was stolen from a parking lot in the area of Grassie Blvd. and Lagimodiere St.     On October 8, 2017 at approximately 2:00 p.m. the driver of the stolen vehicle gassed up in the area of Gateway Rd. and McLeod Ave. and fled without paying for the gas.     On October 9, 2017 at approximately 11:00 a.m. General Patrol officers observed the stolen vehicle being operated in a dangerous manner in the Transcona area. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle; however, it fled at a high rate of speed. A short pursuit followed and was aborted due to the manner of driving.     At approximately 3:10 p.m. General Patrol members observed the stolen vehicle being operated in the area of Plessis Rd. and Regent Ave. Police again attempted to stop the vehicle which fled resulting in a traffic pursuit. The pursuit proceeded at high speeds through a residential area of Transcona and was called off due to public safety concerns.     A short time later the stolen vehicle was involved in a traffic collision involving two vehicles in the area of Plessis Rd. and Pandora Ave. The driver of the stolen vehicle neglected to stop.
