Monday, November 24, 2014       Commercial Robberies – C14-250323 C14-250973 On November 23, 2014 at approximately 12:15 a.m. and again at 9:50 p.m., a video store located in the 1300 block of Main Street was robbed.   During the first incident, an armed male suspect entered the business, confronted staff and demanded cash, cigarettes and other merchandise. The suspect fled and no one was injured.   During the second robbery, a male suspect entered and robbed the business in a similar fashion. Again, no one was injured and the suspect fled with cash and merchandise.   The suspect is described as:   Male, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 30 years-old, medium build, between 5'8"- 5'10" tall, dark hair with some patchy facial hair.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding these incidents or further details regarding the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).     Commercial Robbery – C14-251154 On November 24, 2014 at approximately 3:50 a.m., officers responded to a convenience store located in the 700 block of Mountain Avenue regarding a robbery that just occurred.   The suspect confronted staff and robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.   Although the suspect indicated he was armed, no one injured.   The suspect is described as:   Male, Caucasian, 35 years-old, 5'8" tall and heavy build.   The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. VOETBERG is described as Caucasian, 5'4" tall, approximately 125 pounds, with medium length wavy brown hair, blue eyes. VOETBEG was last seen wearing a bright red sweater with the word "Blazin" on the front, a red & black toque, grey leggings, white socks, and black runners.  Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for her wellbeing. Sunday, November 23, 2014         Break-In and Theft Investigations Arrest – C14-245828 On October 31, 2014 at approximately 5:20 p.m., a male suspect attended to a hotel located in the 700 block of Main Street. While there, he waited for staff to leave the cash register unattended at which time he reached over the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash. He left unnoticed.     On November 15, 2014 the same suspect attended to a jewellery store located in the 900 block of Main Street. While staff was distracted, the male reached behind the counter and removed two valuable rings without being seen. He then left the business.    Surveillance footage of the theft was made public.   On November 17, 2014 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., a pharmacy located in the 700 block of Main Street was broken into on two occasions. A window was smashed and a large quantity of medication was stolen.    Due to the investigative efforts by Patrol members and District 3 Detectives, the suspect was identified and arrested on November 22, 2014.   The stolen rings and some of the medication were recovered.   Kyle Kenneth DESMARAIS, 30 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:   Break Enter & Theft x 2 Theft Under $5000.00 Theft Over $5000.00 Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 2   He was remanded into custody.     Stabbing Investigation Arrest – C14-249649 During the early morning hours on November 22, 2014, officers responded to the area of the 400 block of Maryland Street due to a stabbing incident involving a 22 year-old male victim.   It was determined that a drinking party had taken place which resulted in two males becoming involved in a dispute. An 18 year-old male produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.   The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.   Richard George PAUL, 18 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault due to his alleged involvement.   He was remanded into custody.   A 16 year-old female was also taken into custody. Saturday, November 22, 2014         Sexual Assault Investigation – Arrest C14-112098 As a result of a lengthy investigation by members of the Winnipeg Police Service Child Abuse Unit, Ronald Walter PETERSON, 68 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:   Sexual Assault x 5 Sexual Interference x 5   The investigation has revealed that between January 1998 and May 2014, PETERSON had contact with five male victims under 16 years of age while engaged in a professional capacity as well as socializing in a public setting.   PETERSON was arrested on November 13th, 2014 and released on a promise to appear.     Update - Homicide Investigation – C14-248705 As previously released -On November 21, 2014 at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers and other emergency personnel responded to a suite located in the 500 block of Victor Street regarding an injured female.   Beatrice Ann CRANE, 44 years-old of Winnipeg was located with serious injuries consistent with being stabbed and transported to hospital in critical condition. A short time later, while in hospital she was pronounced deceased.   Members of the Homicide Unit were notified and continue to investigate.   Interviews are on-going. No charges have been laid at this time.   Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).      Drug Investigation Arrests – C14-248144 C14-248496 As a result of members of the Street Crime Unit being involved in a drug investigation, Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrants were obtained for residences located in the first 100 block of Garry Street and Nicholson Crescent.      On November 20, 2014 at approximately 3:25 p.m., Street Crime Unit members with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and the District 3 Community Support Unit executed a warrant on Garry Street.   Two occupants were located and arrested. A search of the residence revealed the following items:   678 ¼ gram rocks of crack cocaine - estimated street value $16,950.00 42.2 grams of crack cocaine – estimated street value of $4200.00 12 grams of Marihuana – estimate street value of $120.00 MDMA pills – estimated street value $40.00 $1920.00 Canadian Currency Other drug related material   Joseph Arthur HENRIE, 35 years-old of Winnipeg and Cheryl Nicole MOORE, 21 years-old of Winnipeg have been charged with numerous drug related offences due to their alleged involvement. They were remanded into custody.   At approximately 9:25 p.m., officers executed a warrant on Nicholson Crescent. Two occupants were located inside and arrested.
