Tuesday, September 11, 2012 MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOVLING A CYCLIST C12-182556 On September 10, 2012, at approximately 4:30 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the 1800 block of Notre Dame Avenue regarding a serious motor vehicle collision involving a cyclist. The investigation has revealed that a 25 year old female was riding her bike on the sidewalk southbound on Keewatin Street near Notre Dame Avenue. It was at this time she entered the roadway where a semi-truck was making a westbound turn onto Notre Dame Avenue from Keewatin Street. While the female cyclist attempted to turn her bike back towards the sidewalk, the semi-truck, being operated by a 37 year old male driver, made contact with the bike causing the female to fall to the ground. The cyclist was initially listed in critical condition, she has been upgraded to guarded. District 2 uniform patrol members and members of the Central Traffic Unit attended the scene. Interviews are on-going. INDECENT ACT C12-182613 On September 10, 2012, at approximately 5:50 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of an indecent act which occurred in the area of Barber Street. Officers met with a 21 year old female victim who advised that she had been walking in the area when an unknown male approached her asking for directions. The victim provided assistance and kept on walking. The male approached the victim on a second occasion and engaged in a conversation. The male then attended to a nearby residence only to return to the victim while exposing himself and performing an indecent act. The victim left the area and notified police. No arrest has been made at this time. The male suspect is described as: Asian in appearance, mid 20's, 5'8"-5'9" tall, medium to heavy build, clean shaven, short black hair, wearing a black baseball cap, dark jeans and a white t-shirt. The investigation is continuing by members of the WPS Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to contact police at 204 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477). COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST C12-181538 On September 9, 2012, at approximately 3:00 a.m., officers responded to a convenience store located in the 500 block of Osborne Street regarding a robbery in progress. It has been determined that a lone male suspect entered the business while concealing his identity and indicating that he was armed. The suspect demanded cigarettes and obtained an undisclosed amount before fleeing. A 33 year old female employee was not injured. At approximately 3:30 a.m., patrolling officers located the suspect hiding in the area of the 400 block of Kylemore Avenue. He was arrested at that time. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate. Riel Christian LETANDRE, 22, year has been charged with: Robbery and Disguise with Intent due to his alleged involvement. He was detained.
