GROW OPERATION ARREST R13-67749
On October 23, 2013 members of the Marihuana Grow Operation Unit with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and District 2 Patrol members, executed a Controlled Drug & Substance Act search warrant at a residence located in the 100 block of Morley Avenue.
A 24 year-old male was located inside the home and arrested.
A search of the home revealed the following:
100 Marihuana plants estimated street value $112, 000.00
Grow operation equipment - $12,000.00
The male is facing the following charges: Production of Controlled Substance (Marihuana), Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (Marihuana).
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARRESTS C13-61042
Between April 2nd and April 15th, 2013, several convenience stores within the city were robbed by three male suspects armed with bear spray.
The suspects would attempt to conceal their identity and confront staff by demanding cash and/or cigarettes. During these robberies an undisclosed amount of cash and merchandise was stolen.
The incidents are as follows:
April 2 first 100 block of Killarney Avenue
April 2 1200 block of Jefferson Avenue
April 4 1300 block of Henderson Highway
April 15 1300 block of Henderson Highway
Due to a lengthy investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, assisted by Patrol members, two males have been arrested.
Stephen TOEWS, 23 years-old has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Robbery with Weapon x 3, Disguise with Intent x 3 and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon x 3.
Cory LEGAULT, 23 years-old has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: Robbery with Weapon x 4, Disguise with Intent x 4 and Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon x 4.
Both males were detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre.
The investigation is on-going. A third male has yet to be arrested.
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C13-218245
On October 23, 2013 just after 7:00 p.m., officers responded to a robbery incident at a business located in the 700 block of Sargent Avenue involving several suspects.
Four suspects entered the business at which time one of them placed an order for food. The other suspects began causing a disturbance and confronted a 45 year-old male employee. A second employee, a 46 year-old male was threatened and assaulted multiple times. He sustained non-life threatening injuries.
The suspects robbed the business of an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
Suspect #1 - Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 20-22 years-old, 5'8 tall, thin build and clean shaven
Suspect #2 - Male, Aboriginal in appearance, 20-22 years-old, taller/bigger than suspect #1.
Suspect #3 Male, Aboriginal in appearance, mid 20's, 6'00" tall, heavy-build and clean shaven.
Suspect #4 Female, Aboriginal in appearance, in her 20's and long black hair.
