Sunday, February 16, 2014 ATTEMPT MURDER ARREST C14-33420 During the evening of February 14, 2014 a party took place at a residence located in the 700 block of Magnus Avenue where numerous people were present. At one point during the evening, a 25 year-old-male proceeded to seriously assault an intoxicated 15 year-old-male. The 25 year-old-male then armed him-self with a knife and stabbed a 19 year-old male in the upper body causing a serious injury. The 19 year-old-male victim fled the residence and was eventually located by emergency personnel. He was transported from the scene in critical condition. He remains in guarded condition at this time. The 15 year-old-male victim sustained multiple injuries and is in stable condition. On February 15, 2014 at approximately 2:55 a.m., the 25 year-old-male suspect was apprehended in the area of Magnus Avenue and Arlington Street after a brief foot pursuit involving Patrol and Canine Unit members. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate. Jonathan CATCHEWAY, 25 years of Winnipeghas been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement: Attempt to Commit Murder Assault Cause Bodily Harm He was detained at the Winnipeg Remand Centre. ATTEMPT MURDER ARREST C14-33489 On February 15, 2014 at approximately 6:00 a.m., a 22 year-old-female and 20 year-old-female became involved in a dispute while at a residence located in the 600 block of Pritchard Avenue. The 22 year-old attempted to leave, however the 20 year-old prevented her from doing so. It was at this time the 20 year-old began physically assaulting the victim including arming her-self with a knife. The victim was stabbed multiple times before she fled the residence and police were summoned. District 3 Detectives continued to investigate. Layla SINCLAIR, 20 years of Winnipegwas arrested at the Pritchard residence and has been charged with the following offences due to her alleged involvement: Attempt to Commit Murder Forcible Confinement Possession of a Weapon Fail to Comply with Condition Recognizance She remains in custody. COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST C14-34123 On February 16, 2014 at 12:45 a.m., Patrol and Canine Unit members responded to a robbery incident that just occurred at a drug store located in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street. A male suspect entered the business and proceeded to select a variety of items and place them into his pockets. As he approached the cashier, it was apparent that he was unable to pay. The suspect attempted to flee while in possession of some of the merchandise when he was confronted by another customer and security staff. The suspect produced a knife and a brief struggle occurred. No one was injured and the suspect fled. A short time later, the suspect was located and placed under arrest while in the area of College Avenue and Airlies Street. Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate.
