Wednesday, February 19, 2014 COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C14-35551 On February 18, 2014 at approximately 3:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a convenience store in the 1000 block of Autumnwood Drive. Responding members spoke with the lone clerk who advised that two males, both armed with a weapon, had entered the store. They immediately attended behind the counter and proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes along with personal property belonging to the clerk. The suspects then fled the store. The clerk was not injured. Both suspects are described as: White males in their early 20s, shorter in height with a slim build. The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. SUSPICIOUS PERSON C14-35823 On February 18, 2014 the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious male. Officers met with the 12 year old complainant who advised that at approximately 11:15 that morning he had been walking on Corbett Drive when he saw a van with a male driver stopped on Corbett. When he walked past the driver turned the van around and began to follow him. The driver eventually called out 'HEY, HEY. COME IN.' The child ran home and police were contacted. The van was last seen eastbound on Buffie Bay. The suspect is described as a white male with balding hair and a greyish goatee. He was wearing a dark jacket. The vehicle is described as a full size van, black in colour with no windows on the back. A large black dog was seen on the front passenger seat. The investigation is continuing by members of the West District Crime Unit. COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARRESTS C14-36008 On February 18, 2014 shortly after 7:30 p.m. an off duty member of the Winnipeg Police Service was in the 500 block of McGregor Street when he observed what he believed to be suspicious activity at a nearby grocery store. It was at this time that the member observed two males, with their identities concealed, run from the store. The officer followed the two suspects to a residence in the 400 block of Bannerman Avenue. He then returned to the store and confirmed that a robbery had occurred and that no one had been injured. Uniform members along with Canine attended and the suspects were located and arrested at the residence on Bannerman Avenue. Investigation revealed that the two armed suspects, 20 & 12 years of age had approached the clerk, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes. The stolen property was recovered at the time of the suspects' arrest.
