COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST - C14-46008
As previously released, on March 4, 2014 at approximately 1:40 p.m., an armed male suspect, while concealing his identity entered a business located in the 1600 block of Regent Avenue West.
Once inside, a 62 year-old male employee was confronted and money was demanded. The suspect eventually fled in a vehicle empty handed.
No one was injured.
Members of the Major Crime Unit continued with the investigation and determined that the same suspect was responsible for several other incidents.
- Stolen vehicle from the 1200 block of Main Street on February 28, 2014
- Theft of gas from the 900 block of Henderson Highway on February 28, 2014
- Attempt robbery in the 400 block of Notre Dame Avenue on March 4, 2014
- Commercial robbery in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street on March 8, 2014
- Theft of gas from the 900 block of Henderson Highway on March 17, 2014
On March 18, 2014 uniform members observed the stolen vehicle in the area of River Avenue and Donald Street. The vehicle was stopped and suspect arrested without incident.
Steven PETERSON 22 years of Winnipeg has been charged with several Robbery and Theft related offences for his alleged involvement.
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
SUSPICIOUS DEATH C14-55104
On March 17, 2014 shortly after 8:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 200 block of Balmoral Street for the report of a sudden death.
Attending members located a deceased adult female within the residence.
An autopsy is pending and the investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
No further information is available at this time.
FRAUD PREVENTION MONTH
March is Fraud Awareness Month, and this March celebrates the 10th Anniversary of this designation. In conjunction with other agencies from the community, the Winnipeg Police Service will be participating in events to help educate citizens on how they can protect themselves from fraud.
