SHOTS FIRED ARREST C14-70183
As previously released, on April 7, 2014 shortly after 2:00 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 600 block of Manitoba Avenue for the report of sounds of shots.
Upon arrival a male youth was located suffering from wounds consistent with having been the result of a firearm discharge. He was transported to hospital in critical condition and has since been upgraded to stable.
Investigation revealed the 17 year old victim and another male had been within the residence when two male suspects forced their way in. When the victims attempted to flee, one of the suspects discharged his firearm, striking the victim once in the upper body. The second male was not injured. The suspects then fled the scene.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation. Shortly after 11:00 p.m. one of the suspects was located in the 400 block of Flora Avenue where he was arrested without incident for his alleged involvement.
Jordan Joseph OWEN 20 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:
- Break Enter & Commit Dwelling House (To Wit: COMMIT AGGRAVATED ASSAULT)
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Use of Firearm During Commission of an Indictable Offence
- Discharge a Firearm with Intent
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
- Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 2

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST C14-70512
On April 8, 2014 shortly after 12:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a convenience store in the 1000 block of McPhillips Street for the report of a commercial robbery.
Information provided was that a male suspect, with his identity concealed and armed with a weapon had attempted to rob the store. The suspect fled without obtaining any property and was observed to drive off in a taxi.
Suspect / vehicle description was broadcast and minutes later general patrol members observed the taxi and suspect outside a convenience store in the 1000 block of McGregor Street. The suspect was arrested without incident. It was learned that the taxi had been stolen in Selkirk, Mb on April 7.
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
A 17 year old male from Selkirk has been charged with several robbery related offences for his alleged involvement.
He has been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
