Monday, September 10, 2012 UPDATE SERIOUS ASSAULT HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION C12-177621 As previously released, on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue regarding a serious assault. Responding members located an injured 16 year old male who had been assaulted. Due to the serious nature of the assault, the victim succumbed to injuries sustained. The name of the deceased will not be released. Results of an autopsy are pending. No arrest(s) have been made at this time. The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone that may have witnessed or have any information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-7983 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477). ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON ARREST C12-182005 On September 9, 2012, at approximately 8:40 p.m., uniform patrol members responded to the area of Elizabeth Road and Drake Boulevard as a result of a stabbing incident. Officers have determined that a 23 year old male suspect approached a 22 year old male victim and requested to use his cellular phone. The victim refused which resulted in a physical confrontation. The suspect then produced a weapon and stabbed the victim to the upper body. The suspect fled and emergency services were notified. The victim is in stable condition. A 23 year old male was located in the area and arrested. The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit. The 23 year old male is facing the following charges: Aggravated Assault, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Possessing Controlled Drug or Substance, including numerous breaches. He was detained. INDECENT ACT AND ASSAULT C12-181405 On September 9, 2012, just after midnight, officers responded to the 700 block of William Avenue regarding an indecent act and assault involving a 22 year old female victim. The investigation has revealed that the victim and her friend were walking to a parking area when they were approached by an unknown male. The suspect proceeded to expose himself and assault the victim to the upper and lower body. The suspect fled the area on foot and the victim sustained minor injuries. No arrest has been made at this time. The suspect is described as: Male, Aboriginal in appearance, thin build, 16-17 years of age, clean shaven, having visible tattoos or scars. The investigation is continuing by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. MISCHIEF TO PROPERTY ARRESTS C12-181 On September 8, 2012, at approximately 11:00 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 500 block of McMeans Avenue East regarding damage to multiple vehicles. The investigation has revealed that two male youth while occupying a vehicle began smashing the windows of four parked cars in the area. Damage is estimated at $2000.00. Due to the efforts of uniform patrol, Canine Unit and Air1, both males were located and arrested. Both males area facing the following charges: Mischief Under $5000.00 x 4. One of the males was also in possession of a canister of bear spray. As a result, he is facing a charge of: Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose.
