FIRE INVESTIGATION C12-187574
On Monday, September 17, 2012 at approximately 1:35 a.m. emergency services personnel responded to the report of a working fire in 400 block of Salter Street.
 
A detached garage and vehicle parked inside at the rear of this location were damaged by fire. Two neighbouring properties, a vehicle and hydro pole sustained damage as well totalling approximately $25 000.00 There were no injuries.
 
Members of the Arson Strike Force are investigating. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
RESIDENTIAL BREAK AND ENTER ARREST C12-185872
On Sunday, September 16, 2012 at approximately 1:30 a.m. General Patrol Units with the assistance of Air-1 responded to the report of a break and enter in progress in the 200 block of Pritchard Avenue.
 
The investigation revealed an intoxicated male arrived at the front door and repeatedly rang the doorbell. He was advised he had the wrong address at which time he began striking at the door and successfully knocked it off the hinges. The home owners were able to hold it shut preventing the suspect from entering.
 
Air-1 located the suspect leaving the scene and monitored his movements until he was arrested by General Patrol units a short distance away.
 
Joshua Donald EVANS, 20 years of Winnipeg was charged with Break and Enter with Intent and detained in custody.
 
SEXUAL ASSAULT INVESTIGATION C12-186199
On Saturday, September 15, 2012 at approximately 9:45 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to the report of a Sexual Assault that occurred in the 100 block of Watt Street.
 
The investigation revealed a 46 year old female victim was walking in the area when she was groped from behind by an unknown male. The victim was not injured and the suspect fled on foot.
 
 
The suspect is described as:
Male, aboriginal in appearance, approximately 18 – 25 years of age, short dark hair, small build. He was wearing a black baseball cap, black pants and a long neck chain with a horn shaped pendant.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Sex Crimes Unit are investigating. Anyone that may have witnessed or have any information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-6245 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
PROJECT RETURN
The Winnipeg Police Service Vice, Missing Persons, Integrated Warrant Unit and their community partner Street Reach are dedicated to identify youth at high risk of being sexually exploited or victimized in Winnipeg. 
 
Street Reach is a multi -agency group including; the Child Protection Branch, MaMaWiChi Itata Centre, Child and Family Services All Nations Coordinated Response Network (ANCR), Mary Mound Inc., and the Manitoba Association for Residential Treatment Resources (MARTR).
 
On September 13, 2012 the team checked twenty one addresses for missing youths, curfew checks and court order compliance. Three at risk youth were located and taken to a place of safety. 
 
Two adult females and a youth were arrested for criminal offences.
