Winnipeg Police Service News Release:

 

  

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 18, 2012
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST       C12-188098
On Monday, September 17, 2012 Winnipeg Police Service units responded to the report of a commercial robbery that had just occurred in the 1500 block of Arlington Street.
 
Staff members reported a male suspect armed with a weapon entered the business demanded and received cash and cigarettes. The suspect fled from the location on foot.
 
Responding officers from Division 13 General Patrol and the Street Crime Unit spotted the suspect as short distance away and he was arrested.
 
A 46 year old male will be facing the following charges:
 
Robbery with a Weapon
Disguise with Intent
 
The accused was detained in custody.
 
ASSAULT PEACE OFFICER ARREST       C12-188079
On Monday, September 17, 2012 members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of a protest being held at Broadway near Memorial Boulevard.
 
Attending officers encountered a group of approximately 100 marchers walking North on Memorial towards Portage Avenue. At Portage Avenue they turned to march East occupying two lanes of traffic.
 
To ensure the safety of the group officers attempted to identify a leader, intended direction of travel for the march and direct the participants onto the sidewalk. While officers were in the process of taking a male into custody members of the protest attempted to intervene and a Winnipeg Police Service member was physically assaulted and a male was arrested.
 
The male suspect appeared to be in distress and he was taken to hospital via ambulance as a precaution.
 
The protest continued on and eventually terminated in the area of St. Mary's Road and Tache Avenue.
 
A twenty year old male is facing charges of Assault Peace Officer and Obstruct a Peace officer. He was released on an Appearance Notice.
 
ABDUCTION ARREST       C08-184322
On September 17, 2012 at approximately 10:00 a.m. as part of an on-going investigation involving the abduction of Abby and Dominic Maryk, the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit arrested two individuals.
 
Darlene McKay age 53 years and Bradley McKay age 48 years, both of Winnipeg were arrested and each charged with the following:
 
Abduction by Concealment x 2
Obstruct Justice x2
 
Both were detained in custody.
