Assault with a Weapon Arrests - C16-212914
On October 11, 2016 at approximately 3:00 p.m., a 24 year old male attended to a residence located in the 600 block of Cathedral Avenue where a group was socializing.
It was at this time multiple suspects produced weapons preventing the victim from leaving.
The victim was forced to the ground while in the lower level of the home. A BB style gun was produced and discharged, striking the victim numerous times. A shotgun was also pointed in the direction of the victim, however not fired. He was robbed of various personal items.
The suspects restrained the victim and over a period of time he was viciously assaulted, causing an array of injuries.
The suspects eventually drove the victim north of the city, leaving him injured and inappropriately dressed for the weather.
The victim managed to attend a nearby business at which time police were notified. He was conveyed to hospital and treated for numerous injuries. He is in stable condition.
On October 12, 2016 at approximately 6:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service conducted a traffic stop near the 600 block of Cathedral Avenue and took three male suspects into custody. After searching the vehicle, officers seized drugs, a loaded modified shotgun and property belonging to the victim.
Members of the Tactical Support Team utilizing ARV1, with the support of patrol members, secured the area in and around the residence on Cathedral Avenue. Over a period of time, several occupants were effectively and safely removed from the home.
Leopoldo AQUINO, 40 years, Reginald DESJARLAIS, 26 years, Wade HOLHAUSER, 24 years and Amber ROBERTS 31 years have been charged with numerous offences due to their alleged involvement. Some of which include:
Forcible Confinement
Armed Robbery using a Restricted Firearm or Prohibited
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
Use of Firearm during Commission of an Indictable Offence
Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Assault with a Weapon
Pointing a Firearm
Possession of a Weapon
Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle another Person
Several drug related offences
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
