PUBLIC AWARENESS TIPS REGARDING BREAK AND ENTERS
To reduce the potential for residential break-ins, the Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind citizens to keep windows locked while sleeping or away from their home. During periods of hot weather, citizens in residences without air conditioning often leave their windows open for fresh air. Forgetting to close the window or leaving it open while you are away provides an opportunity for criminals to gain access resulting in a loss of personal property.

Police would also like to remind citizens to keep their doors and windows locked while working in their yards as well. Each year, a number of thefts occur while the residents are working in their yard and someone enters the home through an unlocked door or window.

Break-ins can occur at any time and in any area of the city. By following these safety tips, residential property crimes can be reduced.
