Injured Male – Public Assistance Requested – Update: C17-167195
As previously released on July 29, 2017:
   
On July 29, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue for a report of an injured male.
   
Upon arrival, officers located an unresponsive adult male suffering from significant injuries. The male was transported to hospital in unstable condition and has since been downgraded to critical condition.
   
Investigators have been unable to ascertain the identity of the male. He is described as:
   
  - Indigenous in appearance.
  - Black short hair (appears to have a receding hairline and no facial hair).
  - 35 to 40 years of age.
  - Approximately 5'10" and 180 to 200 lbs.

  - Wearing a blue t-shirt, black/grey cargo-style pants and size 10 white Sketcher shoes.
  - He was also found to have a blue watch and multiple keys on a key chain.

   
Investigative efforts have identified the victim as a 50-year-old male of Winnipeg. He has been upgraded to stable condition.
   
It has been determined that the male had likely been assaulted by a number of suspects at an establishment in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.

Aggravated Assault - Arrest: C170168168
On July 30, 2017 at approximately 2:50 a.m., the Winnipeg Police Service was notified of a male assaulted in the area of Main St. and Dufferin Ave. Upon arrival officer located an adult male, unconscious and breathing. The male was transported to hospital in critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery.

A 38-year-old adult female was also assaulted during the attack and suffered minor injuries.

Officers from the Major Crimes Unit entered into an investigation and later on the same date, arrested and charged the following:
   
Robert George Linklater, a 35-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Breach of Recognizance
  • Assault

 
Griffen Austin Hawula, a 19-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Aggravated Assault
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

 
Both males have been detained in custody.
   
The victim has been identified as a 34-year-old male from Winnipeg. As a result of the attack, he suffered a serious and significant brain injury. He remains in hospital at this time.

Firearms/Weapons – Arrests: C17-168159   
On July 30, 2017 at approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were conducting a Road Watch check stop in the area of Portage Avenue and Raglan Road when a truck with two occupants was flagged over and approached.
   
The driver was found to be acting in a suspicious manner and a firearm was observed within the vehicle.
   
The two occupants were placed under arrest and an investigation resulted in the seizure of a scoped .22 calibre semi-automatic rifle as well as various types of ammunition and three knives.
   
A 17-year-old male & an 18-year-old male, both of Headingley, have been arrested for:
   
  - Possession of a Weapon (x4)
  - Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
  - Transports Firearm, Weapon or Ammunition in a Careless Manner (x3)
   
They were released on a Promise to Appear.
   
Drug Offences/Search Warrant – Arrests: R17-45417   
During the evening hours of July 28, 2017, Organized Crime Unit members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a suite of an apartment in the 100 block of Smith Street.
   
An investigation has resulted in the seizure of the following:
   
  - Approximately $150,000 in Canadian currency
  - 97 grams of crack cocaine (with a street value of $9,700)
  - 574 grams of cutting agent (with a street value of $500)
  - Packaging material, cooking utensils, and digital scales.
   
Willy Solomon Gooding, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Production of a Scheduled Substance - Cocaine
  - Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  - Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000 (x2)
  - Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance by Judge/Justice (x18)
   
Sophia Rita Kattenat, a 31-year-old female of Winnipeg,has been charged with:
   
  - Production of a Scheduled Substance - Cocaine
  - Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking - Cocaine
  - Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime over $5,000
   
  They were detained in custody.

Missing Person – Star Thomas – Located: R17-49502
 
As previously released on July 5, 2017:
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 17- year-old female, Star Alicia Thomas.  
 
Starr was last seen in the west end area of Winnipeg in the evening of June 16, 2017. Star is described as Indigenous, 5'0" in height, thin build, with shoulder-length black hair and brown eyes.  
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about Star's well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.
 
Star Thomas has been safely located. The Winnipeg Police Service wishes to thank the public for their help.

Aggravated Assault – Arrests: C17-167067
 
On July 28, 2017 at approximately 11:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Austin Street and Lisgar Avenue for a report of a male that had been assaulted.
 
Upon arrival, an adult male was located and transported to hospital in critical condition where he remains.
 
The investigation continued by the members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
It has been determined that the victim, a 35-year-old male, had been at a party in the area when he became involved in a dispute with two suspects. The victim was knocked to the ground and seriously assaulted before the suspects fled.
 
Two individuals were later located and placed under arrest in the 300 block of Anderson Avenue.
 
James Mark Disbrowe, a 38-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Aggravated Assault
- Fail to Comply Probation Order
- Fail to Comply Recognizance
 
Samantha Tiffany Harper, a 23-year-old female of Garden Hill, has been charged with:
 
- Aggravated Assault
 
They were detained in custody.
 
Serious Assault – Public Assistance Required – Update: C17-144725
 
On July 21, 2017, the Winnipeg Police Service requested the public's assistance in locating Jeremy Andrew Cabalu, a 27-year-old male of Winnipeg.
 
Cabalu was the subject of an arrest warrant for Aggravated Assault in relation to an incident that occurred on July 2, 2017 at Smith Street and St. Mary Avenue. Eight other individuals had already been arrested and charged for their involvement in the matter.
 
On July 24, 2017, Cabalu turned himself in at the WPS Headquarters building and was placed under arrest. He was detained in custody.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the public for their help.

Arson – Investigation: C17-166510
 
On July 28, 2017, at approximately 10:15 a.m., emergency personnel responded to an apartment building in the 400 block of Sherbrook Street for the report of a fire.
 
Six individuals were transported to hospital and have since been released. Initial damages are estimated to be approximately $1,000,000.
 
The fire is believed to be suspicious in nature.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
Homicide – Update: C17-166069
 
As previously released on July 28, 2017:
 
On July 27, 2017, at approximately 7:45 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue for a report of an injured male.
 
Upon arrival, officers located both a 29-year-old male and a 31-year-old female who had been stabbed.
 
The victims were transported to hospital in critical condition. The female has since been upgraded to stable condition; however, the male has succumbed to his injuries.
 
The deceased victim has been identified as Rohn Conan Abraham, a 29-year-old male of Winnipeg.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
Assault/Suspicious Male – Update: C17-153631
 
As previously released on July 13, 2017:
 
On July 12, 2017, at approximately 6:45 p.m., an adult female was jogging in the area of Lindsay Street and Corydon Avenue when she was approached by a male who made a motion as if he was asking for the time.
 
The victim provided the time and continued to jog, but noticed the male was still following her. It was at this time that the male grabbed the victim and attempted to assault her. After a brief struggle, the victim was able to flee with minor injuries.
 
Major Crime Unit investigators have provided the following composite sketch and an updated description of the suspect male based on witness information:
 
   
 
- Tan-coloured skin.
- Late 20's to early 30's in age.
- 5'10" in height with an athletic build.
- Hair that is described as being short, curly and/or woolly.
- Wearing large square sunglasses.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information may help investigators identify the suspect is asked to call 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
Firearm/Weapons – Arrest: C17-167099
 
On July 28, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m., East District Station Community Support Unit members were traveling in the area of Watt Street and Kimberly Avenue when they observed a vehicle driving in an erratic matter.
 
The vehicle was stopped in the 600 block of Watt Street and an investigation led to the arrest of two male occupants.
 
Officers recovered and seized a loaded sawed-off .22 calibre rifle, a machete and bear spray.
 
Jonathan Lee Martens, a 28-year-old male of Richer, has been charged with:
 
- Possession of a Weapon (x3)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order (x2)
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
- Drive without licence or with invalid licence (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive without driver's liability insurance (Highway Traffic Act)
- Drive imprudently (Highway Traffic Act)
 
Michael James Macdonald, a 32-year-old male of Winnipeg, has been charged with:
 
- Possession of a Weapon (x3)
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon
- Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
- Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited or Restricted Weapon in Motor Vehicle
- Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm, Prohibited or Restricted Weapon Obtained by Crime
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order
 
They were detained in custody.

Homicide – Investigation: C17-166069   
On July 27, 2017, at approximately 7:45 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence in the 100 block of Euclid Avenue for a report of an injured male.
                                                                 
Upon arrival, officers located both a 29-year-old male and a 31-year-old female who had been stabbed.
   
The victims were transported to hospital in critical condition. The female has since been upgraded to stable condition; however, the male has succumbed to his injuries.
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Assault with a Weapon – Investigation: C17-166305   
On July 28, 2017, at approximately 3:00 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the 500 block of Selkirk Avenue for a report of an injured taxicab driver who had been assaulted.
   
Upon arrival, officers met with the 35-year-old male driver who had been stabbed in the upper-body.
   
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition but has since been upgraded to stable condition.
   
It has been determined that the victim had picked up a male and female fare in the nearby area. After driving a short distance, the driver was stabbed and the pair fled on foot.

Suspicious Person – Investigation: C17:165103

The Winnipeg Police Service was advised of an incident that had occurred on July 26, 2017 in the Sage Creek neighbourhood.
   
Officers interviewed an adult female victim who related details of the following incident:
   
The victim lives in a multi-family complex in Sage Creek neighbourhood. She was unloading groceries in the parking lot of her residence at approximately 12:45 p.m. when she was approached by a male who had driven up in car.
   
The male engaged in small talk, inquiring about the complex, however, the conversation quickly turned inappropriate. The male then grabbed the victim around her torso, but let her go and returned to his vehicle.
   
Later that evening at approximately 6:45 p.m., the male was seen to return to the building where he unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to the complex.
   
The suspect is described as:
 - Caucasian male, late 40's to early 50's in age
 - Approximately 6'1" in height
 - Short grey hair, grey moustache that ended at the jawline
 - Wearing blue jeans and a Winnipeg Jets shirt

   
The vehicle is described as:
 - Four-door, Ford sedan, grey in colour
 - Unknown model, unknown plate number
 - The car was a newer model and clean

Theft Investigation
Public Assistance Requested: C17-136386


The Winnipeg Police Major Crimes Unit has been investigating a series of thefts that have taken place over the past several months. The thefts have occurred at locations throughout the city.

The suspect in these thefts has gone to various convenience stores where sleeves of lottery tickets have been stolen after distracting the clerk. Investigators believe the same suspect is responsible for over thirty thefts.


The following are CCTV images of a male investigators are looking to identify. If anyone has information regarding these thefts or is able to assist in identifying this male they are asked to contact investigators at either (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 16 year old female, Sherrie GARSON. 

GARSON was last seen in the Garden City area of Winnipeg in the evening of
July 20th, 2017. 
   
GARSON is described as Indiginous, 5'7", heavy build with short brown hair and brown eyes. GARSON was last seen wearing dark grey zebra print pajama pants, pink shirt, black & grey zip up hoodie & black & grey high top runners.
   
 
   
 
The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned about GARSON's well-being and is asking anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Thelma Krull Investigation – Update: C15-145099
   

Thelma Krull was last seen on July 11, 2015 in the East Kildonan area. Investigators believe the following are likely circumstances surrounding her disappearance:

-Investigators believe that Thelma Krull was the victim of a crime. 

- Investigators believe that on July 11, 2015, shortly after she arrived at Civic Park at approx 8:00 a.m. she was involved in a physical altercation with a male and was forcibly removed from the area.

-  Investigators further believe Thelma was observed with this male in the area of Kimberly Ave. and Grey St. and that she appeared to be in distress. 

On July 11, 2015 this male would have had access to a residence in the immediate vicinity of Civic Park and specifically the area near Kimberly Ave. and Grey St. where he was last seen with Thelma KRULL. This male may have been living in the area at the time or may have been temporarily staying in the area. 

The suspect is described as:
- Indigenous male in his forties,
- 5'6" – 5'8" in height
- Heavy build, weighing approximately 270 lbs. with a large stomach and a chubby face.
- Dark hair with a bowel-style cut going straight across the forehead, or possibly wearing a dark coloured skull-cap or beanie on his head.

Homicide investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have information regarding this male or a possible sighting of Thelma in his company near Kimberly Avenue and Gateway Road.

We continue to ask anyone with information that hasn't yet spoken with investigators to come forward.
