MALES SHOT - UPDATE C12-196569 C12-196571
As previously released - on September 29, 2012, at approximately 12:20 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service and other emergency personnel responded to the 600 block of Maryland Street regarding shots being fired.
 
Moments later, a second call to police indicated that a male had been located and was suffering from a gunshot wound. Attending members located the injured male and while searching the area, a second male was found to be suffering from injuries consistent with being shot.
 
A 24 year old male was conveyed from the scene in critical condition. He has since succumbed to injuries sustained and has been identified as Jordan Dennis HOULE. A 19 year old male was conveyed from the scene in serious condition. He has been upgraded to stable condition.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit initiated the investigation however Homicide investigators have since taken over.

FIREARMS SEARCH WARRANT – ARREST C12-197198
As a result of a firearms investigation led by members of the Street Crime Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, Canine Unit and Air1; officers executed a search warrant at a residence located in the 300 block of Cathedral Avenue on September 29th at approximately 11:30 p.m.
 
Due to the efforts of officers involved, an adult male was taken into custody. A search of his residence revealed the following seized items:
 
1 modified rifle
Over 630 rounds of various ammunition
 
A 40 year old male is facing numerousfirearm/weapon related offences due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained.
 
SERIOUS MOTOR VEHICLE COLLISION INVOLVING A PEDESTRIAN C12-197531
On September 30, 2012, at approximately 3:55 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Lagimodiere Boulevard (Highway 59 ramp) at the South Perimeter (100) as a result of a serious motor vehicle collision.
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that an adult male was walking in the area when he was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle fled the scene and the male victim sustained serious. He is in critical condition.
 
Traffic Collision Investigators have been called to the scene.
 
As a result of the collision, north and south bound lanes of Lagimodiere Boulevard (Highway 59 ramp) at the South Perimeter (100) is closed to all traffic. Motorists are requested to avoid the area at this time.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating 24 year old, Jeremy MITZOK. MITZOK was last heard from on Friday, September 28, 2012 at approximately 12:15 a.m., in the south end area of the city.
 
MITZOK is described as: Male, Caucasian, 5'10" tall, 175lbs, short brown hair, hazel eyes, wearing prescription glasses.
 
 
MITZOK is believed to be operating a: white 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit, bearing Manitoba license plate EXL 165.
 
 
Investigators are concerned for his well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204 986-6250.

HISTORIC MISSING PERSONS CASES
 
Missing Persons Unit re-releases information in four cases of missing men dating back to 2008
 
The Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit is profiling four historic cases of men that have gone missing dating back to 2008. The goal of re-releasing this information is to generate new tips or information that can assist in solving each of these four unrelated cases.
 
Phillip MORIN  R08-38609
Phillip MORIN was 30 years old at the time he was last seen by his family in May of 2008.    At that time, he was residing on Colony Street in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has not been heard from since.
 
It is extremely unusual for him not to have contact with family members for an extended period of time.  MORIN has not been heard from since his disappearance.
 
 
 
Phillip MORIN
 
He is described as:  Aboriginal, 5'7" tall, 140 pounds, black long hair with brown eyes and a slim build.
 
 
 
Brent Alexander STAPLE  R09-39980
Brent Alexander STAPLE was reported last seen on Sunday, June 28th, 2009, at approximately 6:26 p.m., exiting the front door of an apartment block located in the first 100 block of University Crescent. He was in the company of an unidentified male.
 
STAPLE has not been seen or heard from since the time of his disappearance.

STAPLE, who was 33yrs old at the time of his disappearance, is described as: Caucasian, 5'10" tall, 170 pounds, short brown hair with hazel eyes. He was last seen wearing light coloured blue jeans, dark jacket, dark t-shirt, black work boots and a baseball hat with the logo of "Air Unlimited". He was carrying a shiny Labatt's Blue duffle bag and a second bag over his shoulder, possibly a cooler.
 
The unidentified male is described as: Caucasian, 5'10" tall, approximately 180 pounds, 60 - 70 years old with short greyish hair, wearing wide-rimmed glasses and walks with a noticeable limp.
 
Investigators are requesting information regarding the whereabouts of STAPLE and the identity of the unidentified male. 
 
 
 
 
Kerry KLYNE   R10-104603 
Kerry KLYNE, also known as Darren KLYNE, was last heard from on November 26th, 2010, and was believed to be in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at that time. KLYNE was 27 years old at the time of his disappearance.

KLYNE is described as: Aboriginal, 6'0" tall, approximately 230 pounds with short black hair, brown eyes. He has a small scar on the left side of his mouth. KLYNE is known to have spent time in the past frequenting the Osborne Street area of the City of Winnipeg.
 
 
 
 
Ryan Richard SLOBODZIAN   R11-127148
Ryan SLOBODZIAN was last seen in late December of 2011 in the downtown area of Winnipeg, Manitoba. SLOBODZIAN was 37 years old at the time of his disappearance.

SLOBODZIAN is described as: Caucasian, 5'11" tall, approximately 175 pound with short brown hair and blue eyes. Investigators are concerned for his well-being.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION - UPDATE C12-195058
As previously released - on Thursday, September 27, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 700 block of Pembina Highway regarding a shooting incident at a local restaurant.
 
Attending members located two adult males with injuries consistent with being shot. Both males were conveyed to hospital, one in critical condition and the other in unstable condition.
 
The male who was conveyed to the hospital in critical condition has since succumbed to his injuries. The deceased has been identified as: Jeffrey Michael LAU, 23 years.
 
The second male is 22 years of age, and has been upgraded to stable condition.
 
Early stages of the investigation revealed that a male suspect attended to the restaurant and fired multiply shots subsequently injuring the two male victims. No other injuries have been reported.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.
 
Investigators have learned that additional customers were present at the time of the incident. Officers would like to identify and speak with these individuals and are requesting that they contact police.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE – ARREST    C12-177621
As previously released - on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue regarding a serious assault.
 
Responding members located an injured 16 year old male who had been assaulted. Due to the serious nature of the assault, the victim succumbed to injuries sustained.
 
As previously acknowledged, Michael James GUIMOND, 34 years of Winnipeg was arrested and charged with Manslaughter due to his alleged involvement.
 
On September 27, 2012, at approximately 4:50 a.m., Richard Daniel BEAULIEU, 36 years was taken into custody after which time a warrant for his arrest was issued. He has been charged with Manslaughter due to his alleged involvement and detained.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION  C12-195058
On Thursday, September 27, 2012 at approximately 3:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 700 block of Pembina Highway regarding a shooting incident at a local restaurant.

HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION UPDATE
ARREST    C12-177621
As previously released - on Tuesday, September 4, 2012, at approximately 8:00 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of the 300 block of Aberdeen Avenue regarding a serious assault.
 
Responding members located an injured 16 year old male who had been assaulted. Due to the serious nature of the assault, the victim succumbed to injuries.
 
As a result of an on-going investigation by members of the Homicide Unit a warrant of arrest was issued for Michael James GUIMOND, 34 years old of Winnipeg.
 
On Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at approximately 12:20 p.m., GUIMOND was located by police in the area of Powers Street and Redwood Avenue, at which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
 
GUIMOND has been charged with Manslaughter. He was detained in custody.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit.

SERIOUS ASSAULT UPDATE   C12-193438
As previously released - On Monday, September 24, 2012 at approximately 11:55 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1500 block of Pembina Highway to check on the well-being of individuals at this location.
 
Attending members' located two females, ages 13 and 46, with injuries consistent with being seriously assaulted.
 
Both victims were conveyed to hospital in unstable condition and were later upgraded to stable.
 
Initial investigation revealed that an adult male who is known to the victims attended to their residence and using a weapon proceeded to assault both of them. The victims were able to contact the police at which time the suspect fled from the residence.
 
Police later apprehended the suspect at his residence at which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
 
Terrence Joseph O'NEIL, 32 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with:
  • Attempt Murder X 2
  • Break and Enter – Commit an Indictable Offence
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Fail to Comply with Condition of Undertaking
 
O'NEIL has been detained in custody.
 
 
RESIDENTIAL ROBBERY   C12-193680
On Tuesday, September 25, 2012 at approximately 10:15 a.m., General Patrol Members responded to the area of the first 100 block of Powers Street regarding the report of a residential robbery.
 
Initial investigation revealed that two female suspects attended to an apartment block and proceeded to a suite occupied by a lone 66 year old male. The suspects forced entry into the suite, assaulted the victim and stole an undisclosed amount of money and personal items before fleeing from the location.
 
The victim sustained minor injuries to his upper body not requiring medical attention.
 
The suspects are described as following:
  • Suspect #1: Female, Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 20 years old, approximately 5'4" tall, slim build with shoulder length hair, wearing loose clothing including a light coloured jacket.
 
  • Suspect #2: Female, Aboriginal in appearance, 5'6" – 5'7" tall, slim build, with black hair, wearing a dark tight fitting jacket.

SERIOUS ASSAULT   C12-193438
On Monday, September 24, 2012 at approximately 11:55 p.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the 1500 block of Pembina Highway to check on the well-being of individuals at this location.
 
Attending members' located two females, ages 13 and 46, with injuries consisted with being assaulted.
 
Both victims were conveyed to hospital in unstable condition and were later upgraded to stable.
 
Initial investigation revealed that an adult male who is known to the victims attended to their residence and using a weapon proceeded to assault both of them. The victims were able to contact the police at which time the suspect fled from the residence.
 
Police later apprehended the suspect at his residence at which time he was arrested and taken into custody.
 
A 32 year old male is in police custody and the investigation is continuing.
 
 
DRUG ARREST   C12-192705
On Sunday, September 23, 2012 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Winnipeg Police District 2 Community Support Unit while patrolling in the area of the 3500 block of Portage Avenue, conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle being operated by a lone male.
 
Subsequent investigation lead to the search of the vehicle at which time three pounds of Crystal Methamphetamine with a total street value of $420,000 dollars was located and seized. Also seized was $440 Canadian Currency.
 
Mohammed AKRAWI, 37 years of Vancouver, BC was charged with:
  • Possessing Controlled Drug – Cannabis
  • Possessing Substance for Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possess Proceeds of Crime  
AKRAWI was detained in custody.

PUBLIC ADVISORY – RESIDENTIAL BREAK-INS
 
Recently, the Winnipeg Police Service has been made aware of several break-in enter incidents where suspects gain entry into homes through insecure doors.
 
Several scenarios have been reported where residents are home either working or relaxing in their back yards during the break-in. The suspect(s) subsequently enter the residence through an insecure location near the front of the residence and remove property such as: cash, credit cards, electronics etc.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to remind members of the public throughout the city to insure that their home is secure at all times.
 
 
 
Members of the public are also encouraged to contact police immediately if or when suspicious activity of this nature is observed in their community.

FIRE C12-192165
On September 23, 2012, at approximately 2:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service, while in the area of the 200 block of Lansdowne Avenue on an unrelated matter, were advised by a passer-by of a working house fire nearby.
 
Officers attended to a residence observed to be on fire and immediately began banging on the front door, alerting the sleeping occupants. Once the officers were able to gain entry, five occupants were safely evacuated.
 
Damage to the residence is estimated at $195,000.00.
 
A neighbouring residence also sustained minor exterior damage.
 
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Members of the Arson Strike Force have been notified. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6813 or Crime Stoppers 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY C12-192177
On September 23, 2012, at approximately 2:50 a.m., officers responded to a convenience store located in the 400 block of Edison Avenue for a distress alarm.
 
Further information indicated that two male suspects, while attempting to conceal their identity, confronted two employees (20 year old male, 32 year old male). One of the suspects was armed with a gun and the other suspect began removing cigarettes and other merchandise before fleeing.
 
No one was injured as a result of the incident.
 
The suspects are described as: Caucasian, early 20's with medium builds.
 
No arrests have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C12-192218
On September 23, 2012, at approximately 4:35 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a convenience store located in the 1800 block of Main Street due to the report of a commercial robbery.
 
The investigation has revealed that a lone male suspect armed with a knife entered the business and confronted a 57 year old male employee. Merchandise was demanded and an undisclosed amount was obtained before the suspect fled the area.
 
No injuries were reported.
 
The suspect is described as: Male, Caucasian, blonde/reddish hair, 20 years of age, 5'11" tall and thin build.
 
No arrests have been made at this time.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter is asked to contact investigators at 204 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204 786-TIPS (8477).
