The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a 15-year-old female, Danielle SCRIBE.  SCRIBE was last seen the evening of Wednesday, October 29th, in the downtown area of Winnipeg. 
 
SCRIBE is described as: Aboriginal, 5'5" tall, approximately 150 pounds with a medium build, long straight brown hair and brown eyes.  She was last seen wearing a black shirt, black leggings and black shoes.
 


The Winnipeg Police Service is concerned for SCRIBE'S well-being and are asking anyone with any information regarding her whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Pedestrian –
C14-232800

On October 30, 2014 at approximately 7:45 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Albany Street and Ness Avenue for the report of a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.
 
A 67-year-old female was located at the scene and transported to hospital in stable condition.
 
The adult male driver of the vehicle remained on scene and has spoken with police.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Central Traffic Unit. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6271 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).

Sexual Assault Arrest – C14-231716
On October 29, 2014 at approximately 2:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a sexual assault that had just occurred on Niakwa Road.
 
Upon arrival, attending officers observed the suspect and arrested him without incident.
 
The 42-year-old victim advised officers that the suspect, known to her, had forced his way into her residence upon her opening the door.  Once inside, the suspect struck the victim and then sexually assaulted her.  The victim was able to break free and flee the residence at which time police were contacted.
 
Members of the Sex Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.
 
Jeffrey Alexander HILZ 52 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Sexual Assault Cause Bodily Harm, Overcome Resistance by Attempting to Choke, Suffocate or Strangle Another Person and Unlawfully in Dwelling House for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
 
Theft Arrests Update – R14-76792
As previously released, since late August of 2014, members of the West District Crime Unit have been involved in the investigation of seven incidents in which two or more individuals have entered clothing stores and stolen merchandise.  They included:

  • August 27, 2014, 1400 block of Portage Avenue
  • October 7, 2014 (twice), 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway
  • October 20, 2014, 1700 block of Corydon Avenue
  • October 20, 2014, 800 block of St. James Avenue
  • October 22, 2014, 1400 block of Portage Avenue
  • October 27, 2014, 2000 block of Corydon Avenue

Total value of the stolen property is estimated at $13,850.00.
 
Two of the individuals were linked to an incident from October 10, 2014 in which after refusing to pay for a cab ride, one of the suspects produced a weapon and threatened the driver.
 
On October 28, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m. three suspects attended to a clothing store in the 1700 block of Corydon Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $1300.00.  While attempting to leave, they were confronted by staff at which time one of the suspects produced a weapon and threatened the employee after which all three made good their escape.
 
Investigators were able to identify three of the suspects and on October 29, 2014 all three were located and arrested without incident.  They were later released via Promises to Appear.
 
On the evening of October 30, 2014 two further suspects were located and arrested without incident.
 
A 17-year-old female of Winnipeg has been charged with Theft Under $5,000.00 x 4, Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking x 4 and Breach of Recognizance x 4 for her alleged involvement.  She was also processed on an outstanding Warrant of Arrest for Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking.
 
Matthew Nicholas BEAULIEU 18 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery, Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose and Fail to Comply Condition Undertaking for his alleged involvement in the October 28th incident.
 
Both were detained in custody.
 
The investigation is continuing and further arrest(s) are expected.

Drug Warrant Arrest – C14-231567
On October 29, 2014, as a result on a recent investigation, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Street Crime Unit applied for and were granted a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant for a residence in the 100 block of Maryland Street.
 
Shortly after 11:30 a.m., with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and District 3 Community Support, the warrant was executed.  A male who was observed exiting the residence just prior to the execution of the warrant was arrested without incident.  The following has been seized:

  • Crack cocaine with an estimated street value of $12,500.00
  • Cannabis Marihuana with an estimated street value of $110.00
  • $11,330.00 in Canadian Currency

Darin Michael FERBRACHE 52 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – COCAINE, Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime.
 
He was detained in custody.
 
 
Theft Arrests – R14-76792
Since late August of 2014, members of the West District Crime Unit have been involved in the investigation of seven incidents in which two or more individuals have entered clothing stores and stolen merchandise.  They include:

  • August 27, 2014, 1400 block of Portage Avenue
  • October 7, 2014 (twice), 500 block of Sterling Lyon Parkway
  • October 20, 2014, 1700 block of Corydon Avenue
  • October 20, 2014, 800 block of St. James Avenue
  • October 22, 2014, 1400 block of Portage Avenue
  • October 27, 2014, 2000 block of Corydon Avenue

Total value of the stolen property is estimated at $13,850.00.
 
Two of the individuals were linked to an incident from October 10, 2014 in which after refusing to pay for a cab ride, one of the suspects produced a weapon and threatened the driver.
 
On October 28, 2014 at approximately 3:00 p.m. three suspects attended to a clothing store in the 1700 block of Corydon Avenue and stole merchandise valued at $1300.00.  While attempting to leave, they were confronted by staff at which time one of the suspects produced a weapon and threatened the employee after which all three made good their escape.
 
Investigators were able to identify three of the suspects and on October 29, 2014 all three were located and arrested without incident.
 
Two females, 21 & 17 years, both of Winnipeg, are facing charges of Theft Under $5,000.00 x 7 and Theft Under $5,000.00 x 4 respectively for their alleged involvement.  Both were released via Promises to Appear.
 
A 16-year-old female of Winnipeg is facing charges of Theft Under $5,000.00 x 6 and Robbery x 2 for her alleged involvement.  She was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
The investigation is continuing and further arrests are expected.
 
 
Grow Operation Arrest – R14-77283
On October 29, 2014, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Marihuana Grow Operation Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team and uniform members executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the 1000 block of St Mary's Road.  A lone male located within the residence was arrested without incident.
 
The search resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 55 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $61,600.00
  • Dry marihuana with an estimated street value of $80.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $7,000.00
  • $3,145.00 in Canadian currency

The water meter was found to have been removed, allowing the accused to steal water for the grow operation.
 
A 67-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA), Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime and Abstracts, Consumes or Uses Electricity or Gas – Over $5,000.00.
 
He was released via a Promise to Appear.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating the following 17-year-old male, Thomas BARSTAD. BARSTAD was last seen in the North end area of Winnipeg on Tuesday, October 21, 2014.
 
BARSTAD is described as: Caucasian, 6' tall, approximately 160 pounds with a thin build, short brown hair and brown eyes.

Police are concerned for BARSTAD's well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Update - Serious Motor Vehicle Collision – C14-229022
As previously released - On October 26, 2014 at approximately 2:40 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a hit and run motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian in the area of Marbury Road and Mapleglen Drive.
 
At this time, the investigation has revealed that the occupants of two vehicles became involved in dispute, possible due to manner of driving.
 
At one point, the occupants of a black, Infiniti G35 stopped in the area and a 31 year-old male passenger exited the vehicle in attempt to speak with the other driver. The driver of the suspect vehicle, still in the area, suddenly drove in the direction of the male passenger, now out in the roadway, striking him while travelling at a high rate of speed.
 
The victim was transported from the scene in critical condition, having life-threatening injuries.
 
The suspect vehicle, a silver Dodge Charger has been located and seized by officers.
 
This morning, the 31 year-old male pedestrian succumbed to his injuries. His name will not be released.
 
No arrest(s) have been made at this time. Members of the Homicide Unit continue to investigate.

Utter Threats Investigation Arrest – C13-254332
In early October 2014, members of the Major Crimes Unit became involved in an investigation regarding numerous threats made against members of the Winnipeg Police Service.
 
Between December 2013 and September 2014, the male suspect made contact with Justice Officials on numerous occasions indicating that he had intentions to kill Winnipeg Police Service members.
 
As a result of these threats, an investigation commenced and the suspect was identified as being in the Penticton, British Columbia area.
 
A Canada-wide warrant was issued and on October 22, 2014, the male was located in BC and arrested by members of the RCMP.
 
On October 28, 2014, members of the Manitoba Integrated Warrant Apprehension Unit travelled to British Columbia and took custody of the male.
 
He was brought back to Winnipeg and further processed by members of the Major Crimes Unit.
 
Christopher Jason PITTS, 39 years-old has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Intimidation of a Justice System Participant x 3
Utter Threats x 4
Fail to Comply with condition of a Recognizance x 2
Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 4
 
He was remanded into custody.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a 14 year-old male, Nicholas DURACK. DURACK was last seen in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg on Friday, October 9, 2014.
 
DURACK is described as a Caucasian male, 5'10" tall, approximately 170lbs., stocky build, brown brush-cut style hair and brown eyes. DURACK was last seen wearing a black hoodie, grey pants and white shoes.

Since releasing details of the incident to the public, the registered owner of the suspect vehicle contacted police. It has been determined that the vehicle was in the possession of individuals known to the registered owner at the time of the collision.
 
The vehicle has since been seized.
 
The suspect(s) remain(s) outstanding and the investigation continues.
 
 
 
Arson Arrest – C14-229526
On October 26, 2014, at approximately 8:00 p.m., two male youth entered a secure compound located in the area of the 700 block of Pembina Highway.
 
While in the compound, the males began damaging property and started a fire. Damage estimates are pending.
 
Their activities were observed and police were notified.
 
Members of the Canine Unit located and took custody of the suspects in the area of the 2300 block of Grant Avenue.
 
Members of the Arson Unit continued to investigate.
 
A 13 year-old male and14 year-old male are facing the following charges:
 
Arson causing damage to property
Possession of incendiary material
Mischief under $5,000
Break/enter & commit arson
 
Both were released on a promise to appear.

DORIAN is described as: 5'0" tall, approximately 100 lbs., with long brown hair. There is no clothing description available for DORIAN at this time.
 
SIDOTI is described as: 5'2" tall, approximately 65 lbs., with brown shoulder length hair. She was last seen wearing a sweatshirt, pink shorts and multi-coloured runners.
