Cause Disturbance Arrest – C16-19948
On January 29, 2016, shortly before 12:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to a shopping centre in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue for the report of two males, each possibly armed with a firearm.
   
Responding officers located and arrested both suspects shortly after arrival.  It was quickly learned that the two incidents were unrelated.
   
Investigation revealed that one of the males had been making hand and body gestures, which imitated the holding and shooting of a firearm, towards shoppers.
   
As a result of his alleged involvement, Clinton Peter OSBORNE, 26 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Causing a Disturbance and Fail to Comply with Probation Order.
   
He was detained in custody.
   
The second incident involved a male, 41 years of age, who was found to be in possession of an airsoft gun, which, though in a backpack, had been observed by witnesses.  He was cautioned and released without charge.
   
   
Suspicious Male – C16-19988
On January 29, 2016, Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched for the report of a suspicious male.
   
Officers met with the 14-year-old complainant who related that at approximately 1:30 p.m. she had been walking in the 200 block of Church Avenue.  A vehicle pulled up alongside and the male driver asked if she would like a ride, which she refused, and continued on walking.  The driver pulled away and was last seen heading west down Church.
   
The suspect male is described as: Caucasian, 50-60 years of age with a bald head with grey/black hair on the sides, short grey/white moustache and goatee style beard.
   
The vehicle is described as a beige van with the middle and rear windows tinted.

MISSING PERSON – TYLER EVERETT - C15-271682
The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating the following 15-year-old male, Tyler Alexander EVERETT. EVERETT was last seen in the downtown area of Winnipeg on Saturday, January 23, 2016.
 
EVERETT is described as an Aboriginal male, 5'10" tall, approximately 150 pounds with a thin build, brown eyes and short black hair. He was last seen wearing a Chicago Bulls Baseball cap, black jacket, black jeans and red and white Nike runners.

 


Police are concerned for EVERETT's well-being and are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit at 204-986-6250.

Suspicious Female – C16-19007
On the morning of January 28, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a suspicious female seen shortly before 9:00 a.m. on January 27th.
   
The 11-year-old victim related that she had been walking in the area of Farmingdale Boulevard and Lindenwood Drive East when a vehicle, with a lone occupant, pulled up beside her.  The driver stated "I'm driving you to school, come on get in, get in."  The victim refused and continued on her way.  The vehicle was last seen turning westbound onto Lindenwood Drive.
   
The driver is described as a black female, approximately 40 years of age with shoulder length black, curly hair.
   
The vehicle is described as being a smaller, four door car, and black in colour.
   
The investigation is continuing by members of the West District Crime Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspect is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-2877 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).

5th ANNUAL GUNS Vs. HOSES CHARITY HOCKEY GAME

On Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 7:30 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service Patrolmen Hockey Club will be playing the Winnipeg Fire Department Fire Fighters Hockey Team in the 5th Annual Guns vs. Hoses Charity Hockey game. The game will be held at the MTS Ice Plex located at 3969 Portage Avenue.  Doors open at 6:00 p.m.

This event continues to build bridges between the Winnipeg Police Service and the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, strengthening our relationship while raising money for well deserving, important charities. Modelled after the program in New York City where the New York Police Department and the New York Fire Department play in a charity hockey match, the game brings members, their families, friends, and the community together to celebrate the event and the daily life of a Police Officer or Fire-fighter.

Tickets are being sold by each team and are $10.00 each.  Additional tickets will be sold at the door.  There will be prizes which have been donated by the Winnipeg Jets as well as a 50/50 draw.

Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

This year, proceeds raised by the Patrolmen are in support of SMA (Spinal Muscular Atrophy) while the funds raised by the Fire Fighters will be in support of Huntington Disease.

The Guns Vs Hoses charity hockey game has raised approximately $50,000.00for charity since its inception.

The Winnipeg Police Service is requesting the public's assistance in locating a missing 18-year-old female, Corrina MONKMAN. MONKMAN was last seen in the downtown area of Winnipeg on the afternoon of Wednesday January 27, 2016.

MONKMAN is described as an Aboriginal female, 5'9" tall, 150 pounds with long black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a black jacket and black/red shoes.

Utter Threats Investigation - Arrest – C16-18667
On the evening of January 27, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of an unknown male having posted a threatening video on YouTube regarding a high school, along with specific students that attend the school which is in the East Kildonan area.

The investigation continued by members of the Major Crimes Unit who were able to identify a suspect.  On January 28th at approximately 1:30 p.m. he was located and arrested without incident.

An 18-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Uttering Threats, Harassing Communications x 4 and Mischief Under $5000/Obstruct in Enjoyment for his alleged involvement.

He was released via a Promise to Appear.

The investigation is continuing.


Marihuana Grow Operation Arrest – R15-96997
On January 27, 2016, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Marihuana Grow Operation Unit, with the assistance of Uniform and Tactical Support Team members, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrant at a residence in the 1st 100 block of Deering Close.  A lone male was arrested without incident.

The subsequent search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 488 marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $546,560.00
  • Grow operation equipment valued at $13,600.00

Due to his alleged involvement, a 57-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance - CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Possession of a Substance for the purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA).

He was released via Promise to Appear.

Suspicious Person – C16-18174
On January 27, 2016, members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded for the report of a suspicious person.
   
Officers met with the complainants, brothers who are nine and twelve years of age.  They related that at approximately 3:30 p.m. on January 26th they had been walking in the 1000 block of Simpson Avenue when a car with two males pulled up.  The driver stated that their mother was looking for them and asked if they would like a ride home.  The boys declined and made their way home where they told their mother.
   
The vehicle is described as a small, four door brown/beige car.
   
Both suspects are described as Caucasian, approximately 18 years of age with scruffy facial hair.

Commercial Robbery – C16-17329
On January 26, 2016 at approximately 2:00 a.m., a lone male suspect entered a convenience store located in the 1300 block of Henderson Highway and confronted an employee while armed with a weapon.
   
As a result of the robbery, the suspect fled with a quantity of merchandise. The employee was not injured and the suspect fled from the store in a northbound direction.
   
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 35-years-old, 5'5"- 5'6" tall and clean shaven.
   
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate.

Commercial Robbery Arrest – C16-16607
On January 25, 2016 at approximately 4:00 a.m., a male suspect, while concealing his identity attended to a convenience store located in the 1300 block of Main Street.
   
Once inside, the armed suspect confronted an employee and demanded cash. The suspect eventually fled and a passing cruiser was alerted to the robbery. The suspect was pursued by officers and arrested a short distance away.
   
The stolen cash and a weapon were recovered. Members of the Major Crimes Unit were notified and continued to investigate.  
   
Kyle Kenneth DESMARAIS, 31-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement and remanded into custody:
   
Robbery
Disguise with Intent
Possession of a Weapon

Shooting Investigation – C16-15437
On January 23, 2016, shortly before 3:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 500 block of Sargent Avenue for the report of sounds of shots.
   
Responding officers were unable to locate a victim, however a short time later a report was received saying that an adult male, in critical condition, had been brought to an area hospital suffering from an apparent gun-shot wound.  It was confirmed that this male had been injured at the Sargent Avenue scene.
   
An arrest has not yet been made and no further information is available at this time.

Assault Investigation – R16-2648
As previously reported in the media, on January 13, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a male youth having been assaulted.

Information provided was that on January 7th, at approximately 7:00 p.m. the complainant located a young male in a garbage bin in the 700 block of Flora Avenue.  She helped him out of the bin but was unable to get any information as to what had happened and the victim walked away.

The victim, along with his father was interviewed and it was learned that two adult males had thrown the boy into the dumpster.  The victim did not sustain any serious injury during the incident.

There are no suspect descriptions.

The investigation is continuing by members of the District 3 Crime Unit.  To date, investigators have been unable to identify the males responsible.  They are asking that anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the suspects to contact investigators at (204) 986-2848 or CrimeStoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).


Impaired Driving Arrest – C16-14646
On January 22, 2016, shortly before 2:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members observed a vehicle being driven erratically in the area of Plessis Road and Fermor Avenue.  Attempts to stop the vehicle were unsuccessful and the driver fled at a high rate of speed.

Members of AIR1 followed the vehicle into the Transcona area where the driver was seen to flee from the vehicle.  Officers were directed to a yard where the suspect was hiding.  After a brief struggle, he was taken into custody.

A 37-year-old male of Winnipeg is facing the following charges for his alleged involvement:

  • Driving While Ability Impaired
  • Driving with More Than 80 mgs of Alcohol in Blood
  • Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
  • Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
  • Assault a Peace Officer
  • Resist Peace Officer
  • Drive without licence or with invalid licence

 He was released via an Appearance Notice.

Attempt Murder Arrest – C16-13130
On January 19, 2016, shortly before midnight, emergency personnel were dispatched to the 700 block of Dufferin Avenue for the report of an injured female.

A 32-year-old female was located suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper body and was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Several people, including a 50-year-old male, were taken into custody.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.  It was learned that the victim, along with others had been socializing within the residence.  An altercation escalated to the point where the above noted male armed himself with a weapon and stabbed the victim.  A second female victim received a minor injury while attempting to intervene in the assault.

James Ernest BUMP of Winnipeg has been charged with Attempt to Commit Murder, Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Robbery and Assault with a Weapon for his alleged involvement.

He was detained in custody.


Marihuana Grow Operation – R15-89962
In the fall of 2015, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Marihuana Grow Operation Unit became aware of a grow operation in the 300 block of Niagara Street.  Investigation led to the issuance of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) Search Warrant.

On the evening of January 20, 2016, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team, investigators executed the warrant.  Two persons within the residence were taken into custody without incident.  A subsequent search of the residence resulted in the seizure of the following:

- 36 Marihuana plants with an estimated street value of $39,200.00
- Approximately three pounds of harvested marihuana with an estimated street value of $7,500.00
- Approximately 8.5 pounds of marihuana shake (used to make cannabis resin) with an estimated street value of $21,250.00 
- Grow equipment valued at $6,890.00

A 43-year-old male and 24-year-old female, both of Winnipeg, are each facing charges of Produce a Scheduled Substance – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA) and Possession of a Scheduled Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – CANNABIS (MARIHUANA).

Both were released via a Promise to Appear.

Stabbing Arrest – C16-13024
On January 19, 2016, shortly before 8:30 p.m., emergency personnel were dispatched to the 300 block of Portage Avenue for the report of a male having been stabbed.
   
A 20-year-old male was located suffering from apparent stab wounds to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in stable condition.
   
The suspect was later located in the area of Fort Street and Graham Avenue where he was taken into custody without incident.
   
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit continued with the investigation and were able to link the suspect to an assault that had occurred on the evening of January 15th in the same area.  In that incident, the accused physically assaulted a male.  The victim was not seriously injured.
   
A 15-year-old male of Winnipeg has been charged with numerous offences for his alleged involvement.
   
He was detained in custody.
