SUSPICIOUS INCIDENT              C12-97110
On Friday, May 25, 2012 at approximately 10:10 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the area of Dufferin Avenue regarding a report of a suspicious incident.
 
An investigation of the incident revealed that a 20 year old female victim was walking in the area of King Street towards Dufferin Avenue. The victim was pushing a baby stroller that had her infant child securely restrained, when a male unknown to the victim approached her from behind and demanded cigarettes.
 
The female was unable to provide the suspect with cigarettes at which time the male reached towards the stroller's safety restraints. The victim was able to flee with her child  from the location and called police.
 
Neither the victim nor child was injured as a result of this incident.
 
The male suspect is described as:
  • Aboriginal in appearance
  • Approximately 25 – 26 year old
  • Medium build
  • Wearing dark blue jeans, black & Red Hooded Sweater  
 
The Winnipeg Police Service District 3 Crime Unit is continuing the investigation of this matter. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact police at 204-986-2848 or CrimeStoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477)
