BREAK, ENTER – ARRESTS

On July 7, 2012, at approximately 3:30 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the first 100 block of Old Commonwealth Path regarding a break, enter in progress.
  
The investigation has revealed that four suspects were attempting to gain entry into the residence, resulting in windows being smashed. The suspects were armed and attempted to push their way into the home, however the door was held closed from inside by the occupants
 
At the time of the incident there were several occupants, one of which was a 16 year old female who sustained a minor injury.
 
The suspects eventually fled the area in a vehicle which was immediately followed by Air1. Members of the WPS Canine Unit conducted a traffic stop in the area of Kinver Avenue and Keewatin Street.
 
All four suspects were arrested, (two 18 year old males, two 17 year old males). Several weapons were recovered and seized by officers.   
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 13 Crime Unit.
 
The males involved are facing numerous charges which include: Break & Enter, Posses Weapon for Dangerous Purpose, Assault with a Weapon, Possess Proceeds of Crime and Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking. 
 
At this stage of the investigation, it appears that all parties are known to each other and this matter is as a result of an ongoing dispute.
 
The males arrested have been released on a Promise to Appear.
