FATAL FIRE C13-20617
On January 31, 2013 at approximately 1:30 a.m., emergency personnel responded to a residence located in the 1200 block of Fleet Avenue regarding a working fire.
 
A person was located deceased within the home and members of the Arson Strike Force were notified. They continue to investigate.
 
Damage to the home is estimated at $380,000.00.
 
The identity of the deceased and cause of the fire has not yet been confirmed. The results of an autopsy are pending.

GROW OPERATION – ARREST R13-004102
On January 31, 2013 members of the Winnipeg Police Service Drug Unit, with the assistance of the Tactical Support Team executed a Controlled Drug and Substance Act search warrant at a residence located in the 1900 block of St. Mary's Road.
 
As a result, a grow operation was located consisting of the following:
 
656 Marihuana plants – estimated street value $734,720.00
Grow Operation equipment - $7,500.00
 
A 49 year old male was located and arrested in a vehicle as a result of a traffic stop near-by.  
 
He is facing the following charges: Possessing Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking x 2, Production of Controlled Substance and Theft of Telecommunications.
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear. 
 
 
UTTER THREATS – ARREST R13-5189
On January 19, 2013 at approximately 7:40 a.m., a Mobile Photo Enforcement operator was on duty in the area of McGregor Street and Anderson Avenue. It was at this time the driver of a Ford F250 pick-up truck pulled up in front of the Photo Enforcement Unit making contact with the radar equipment. Despite this, no damage was caused.
 
The driver of the truck then exited his vehicle and confronted the operator by yelling out obscenities. He then re-attended to his truck and drove off. Moments later, the suspect returned after driving into oncoming traffic and stopping at an angle to the operator's driver's side door pinning him inside. Again, the suspect began yelling at the operator at which time he threatened him before fleeing.
 
The incident was reported to police and an investigation commenced involving members of the District 3 Crime Unit.
 
On January 31, 2013 at approximately 9:30 a.m., a 49 year old male was located and arrested in the same area. He is facing the following charges:
 
Utter Threats to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
(HTA) Drive Imprudently
(HTA) Obscured plate
 
He was released on a Promise to Appear.
