FIREARMS SEIZURE AND ARREST    C13-38600
On February 26th, 2013 Winnipeg Police Service arrested a 54 year old male from Winnipeg. He was charged with Uttering Threats and various firearms offences including Possession of Firearm while prohibited. During the incident a shot gun was seized.
 
An investigation into the firearm's background was initated by detectives from East District Station, the National Weapons Enforcement Support Team and the Winnipeg Police Service Firearms Investigative Analysis Section. 
 

 

     

 As a result of this investigation a search warrant was executed at a residence in the 400 block of Rue St Jean Baptise. At this time police seized 101 firearms, 15 of which are restricted/prohibited handguns as well as thousands of rounds of assorted ammunition.  A 57 year old male from Winnipeg was arrested. Numerous firearms related charges are pending, including Transferring a Firearm Without Authority.
 
The accused was released on a Promise to Appear.
 

COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST    C13-55934
On March 25th, 2013 at approximately 12:00 a.m. general patrol members responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 800 block of Cavalier Drive. The accused produced what appeared to be a hand gun, demanded money and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
A Winnipeg Police K-9 unit initiated a track and a 29 year old male suspect was located hiding in a rear yard in the area. A replica handgun was also located and seized.
 
Elvis Turtle, from rural Manitoba has been charged with the following offences:
 

  • Robbery with a Firearm
  • Use Imitation Firearm during Commission of Offence
  • Possession of a Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Breach of Probation

 
He was detained in custody.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY    C13-57274
On Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 at approximately 1:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police officers responded to a report of a commercial robbery in the 3500 block of Roblin Boulevard.
 
Three male suspects entered the business and demanded the clerk open the till. The suspects fled the premises with an undisclosed amount of cash and various tobacco products. The suspects fled the area. There were no injuries sustained.
