STOLEN VEHICLE – IMPAIRED DRIVING – ARRESTS R13-40649
On June 13, 2013 at approximately 6:50 a.m., a Traffic Unit member observed a stolen Chevrolet Cavalier, having two occupants, being operated in the area of Rupert Avenue and King Street.
 
The driver was observed running a red light resulting in a traffic stop in the area. Upon making contact, the driver displayed signs of being impaired by alcohol.
 
It was also confirmed that the vehicle had been stolen earlier in the day from the area of Portage Avenue and Main Street.
 
The driver was arrested at which time he attempted to flee from the arresting officer. After a brief pursuit, the male suspect was taken into custody. The suspect became combative at which time additional police resources responded including, Patrol members and members of the Tactical Support Team.
 
While officers attempted to safely restrain the male, he continued his aggressive behaviour by assaulting two officers.
 
Michael Robert FENNER, 37 years-old,has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement and detained:
 
Possess Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.00
Impaired Driving
Failure to Provide a Breath Sample
Assault a Peace Officer
Assault with a Weapon
HTA – Disobey Traffic Control Device
HTA – Drive while Disqualified
Escape Lawful Custody
 
The passenger, Johnny BAKER, 41 years-old, has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement and detained:
 
Possess Property Obtained by Crime
Breach of Probation
