ASSAULT UPDATE - ARREST – C13-175431
As previously released, on Saturday, August 31, 2013 at approximately 1:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Nevens Bay for the report of a disturbance.
Attending members learned that an eighteen year old male suffering from upper body injuries sustained during an assault had been transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Investigation had revealed that several people were in attendance at a party when two of the partygoers became involved in a verbal altercation. The altercation turned physical, resulting in the victim sustaining his injuries.
The victim has since succumbed to his injuries. His name is not being released.
The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit and as a result a 17 year old male from Winnipeg has been charged with Manslaughter.
He has been detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre.
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. Anyone who was at the party and witnessed the incident but has not yet spoken with police is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6508.
DRUG OFFENCE ARREST – C13-175542
On Saturday, August 31, 2013 at approximately 3:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were at a residence in the 1st 100 block of Hutton Street on an unrelated matter when drugs and firearms were observed.
Three males within the residence were arrested and taken into custody.
The following was seized:
· Digital scales
· Packaging material
· 8.5 grams cocaine with a street value of $680.00
· 4 (2.85 grams) capsules of MDMA (Ecstasy) with a street value of $80.00
· 1 Mini-Uzi replica air gun with magazine
· 1 Sig Sauer handgun replica air gun with magazine
· 1 x .303 Rifle with magazine and attached scope
· 7 rounds of 9mm ammunition
· 5 rounds of 45 caliber ammunition
· $4,930.00 in Canadian currency
Lloyd Rodney BEARDY 27 years of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences for his alleged involvement:
- Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking – COCAINE
- Possessing substance for purposes of trafficking – ECSTASY
- Possess Proceeds of Crime
- Breach of Firearms Regulation
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
He has been detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
The two other males were released without charge.
