ATTEMPT MURDER ARREST – C14-28904
On February 8, 2014 shortly before midnight emergency personnel were dispatched for the report of a male stabbed in the 1st 100 block of Noble Avenue.
 
Upon arrival, a 19 year old male was found to be suffering several stab wounds to the upper body.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition.
 
A 19 year old male was arrested at the scene.
 
Members of the Major Crime Unit continued with the investigation.
 
Investigation revealed that the accused, along with the victim and another person had been socializing when a verbal argument between the accused and victim occurred.  This resulted in the accused being evicted from the residence.  Minutes later the accused returned to get his coat and when allowed entry the argument resumed and escalated to the point where the accused armed himself with a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the upper body.
 
As a result of the investigation Jordan Thomas MUNROE of Winnipeg has been charged with Attempt Murder and Aggravated Assault.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY ARREST – C14-28222
On February 7, 2014 at approximately 11:30 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a commercial robbery that had occurred at a convenience store in the 1100 block of St Mary's Road.
 
Responding officers met with employees who advised that a male had attended to the counter, asking to use the phone which he was allowed to do.  Moments later the male produced a weapon, demanded and received an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes.  He then fled the store.
 
Neither clerk was injured.
 
A short time later police were dispatched to the 1st 100 block of Arden Avenue for the report of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance.  Upon arrival officers recognized that the intoxicated male matched the description of the robbery suspect.  He was taken into custody without incident.
 
Members of the Major Crime Unit continued with the investigation. 
 
Rendell Bernie FRANCIS 23 years of Winnipeg has been charged with Robbery with Weapon and Fail to Comply with Probation x 3 for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
STOLEN VEHICLE ARREST – C14-28944
On February 9, 2014 shortly before 1:00 a.m. patrolling members of the Winnipeg Police Service were in the area of Selkirk Avenue and McGregor Street when they observed a reported stolen vehicle.
 
Upon seeing police the vehicle driver sped off however the driver was unable to maintain control of the vehicle and collided with a parked vehicle in the 400 block of Flora Avenue.  The stolen vehicle became stuck in a snow bank and though officers repeatedly demanded that the driver exit the vehicle, he continued to attempt to dislodge the vehicle.  Officers were able to remove the driver from the vehicle and take him into custody.
 
Dexter Kyle WAMBDISKA 32 years of Winnipeg has been charged with a multitude of criminal and Highway Traffic Act offences for his alleged involvement.
 
He was detained at the Provincial Remand Centre.
 
 
STOLEN VEHICLE ARRESTS – C14-29011
On February 9, 2014 shortly after 4:00 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were patrolling in the area of Simcoe Street and St. Matthews Avenue when they observed a vehicle that had been reported stolen a short time earlier.
 
Officers were able to stop the vehicle in the area of Elgin Avenue and Sherbrook Street.
 
Two of the suspects were arrested at the scene while the driver fled on foot.  Members of AIR1 attended and were able to locate the suspect hiding in the 200 block of Lulu Street.  Officers on the ground were directed to his location and arrested him without incident.
 
Three male youths, 12, 13 & 14 years of age, all from Winnipeg are facing several charges as a result of their alleged involvement.
 
The 12 & 14 year olds were detained at the Manitoba Youth Centre while the 13 year old was released via a Promise to Appear.
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C14-29025
On February 9, 2014 shortly after 5:00 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members were dispatched to a convenience store in the 3300 block of Pembina Highway for the report of a commercial robbery.
 
Officers met with the store employee who related that 3 male suspects, all with their identities concealed and one armed with a weapon had entered the store.  While one of the suspects watched the clerk, the other two proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of cash and cigarettes after which all three fled the store.
 
The clerk was not injured.
 
There are no suspect descriptions.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
COMMERCIAL ROBBERY – C14-29115
On February 9, 2014 at approximately 10:40 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a commercial robbery that had occurred in the 100 block of Arlington Street.
 
Responding officers located a 59 year old male who had been assaulted in the upper body.  He was conveyed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  It was learned that employee had been jumped by two unknown males who robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash.
 
There are no suspect descriptions.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspect(s) is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
