Thursday, June 26, 2014 Officer Involved Shooting – Update- Arrest C14-128514 As previously released, on June 19, 2014 at approximately 9:20 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to the report of suspicious circumstances in the area of a gas bar in the 300 block of Wardlaw Avenue. Upon arrival, officers were confronted by a male suspect which resulted in one of the officers discharging his firearm. The 21-year-old suspect was struck in the upper body and later transported to hospital in stable condition. As a result of the continued investigation by members of the Major Crimes Unit, on June 25, 2014, the 21-year-old suspect was arrested. The investigation has revealed that on June 19, 2014 the suspect, while wearing a balaclava and armed with a knife, had attended to the area of Wardlaw Avenue and Donald Street where he was seen entering the gas bar kiosk. Police responded and encountered the suspect inside the kiosk. He advanced on officers who responded by discharging a firearm. The 18-year-old male clerk was not injured during the incident. The investigation has also revealed this same suspect to be responsible for the following two commercial robberies: - April 1, 2014, at 8:30 p.m. at a gas bar within the 400 block of Academy Road
- June 14, 2014 at 4:30 a.m. at a convenience store located within the 100 Marion Street
As a result of his alleged involvement in these incidents, Andrew Christopher LEBRUN, 21 years of Winnipeg is facing the following charges: - Robbery X3
- Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon X2
- Disguise with Intent X3
- Possession of a Weapon X3
- Assault and
- Fail to Comply with Probation Order X3
