Internet Child Luring- Arrest- R14-26147
In April 2014, members of the Winnipeg Police Service Internet Child Exploitation Unit became involved in an investigation involving a Winnipeg man, who posed online as a 13-year-old female. This male began communicating on a social media network with a 16-year-old male in Alberta.
 
On July 16, 2014, members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a warrant at a residence in the Normand Park area of Winnipeg, resulting in the seizure of a number of electronic items. At the time a suspect male was arrested and taken into custody without incident.  
 
A 53-year-old male from Winnipeg is facing the following charges:

  • Possession of Child Pornography
  • Luring a Person Under 18 years of age by Means of Telecommunication

 He has been released to appear in court at a later date.

Sexual Assault Investigation- C14-158228
On July 27, 2014 shortly before 4:30 a.m. Winnipeg Police Service members responded to the report that an 18-year-old female had been sexually assaulted by an unknown male.

Upon arrival, officers met with the victim and learned that she had with friends at a night club in the area of Speers Road and Elizabeth Road. The victim had separated from her friends and began walking in the area when she was approached by a unknown male in a vehicle.  The victim accepted a ride home from this male and at one point the victim realized she was in an area unknown to her and requested the male let her out.  The suspect male refused and a serious sexual assault occurred.
 
Suspect: Black Male, with a slim build, and an accent.
 
This investigation is continuing by members of Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone who has any information is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Homicide- Update- Arrest- C14- 157467
As previously released, on July 26, 2014 at approximately 5:40 a.m., emergency services personnel responded to a report of a fire alarm at an apartment building within the 100 block of Hargrave Street.  

Upon arrival, fire fighters quickly extinguished a small fire within a suite and located a male with injuries to his upper body. The adult male victim was transported to the hospital in critical condition, where he later succumbed to his injuries.  The victim has been identified as Arthur HAUSSERMANN, 53 years of Winnipeg.
 
The fire which was contained to the victim's suite had caused approximately $10,000 in damage.
 
On July 29, 2014, shortly after 4:00 p.m., officers arrested a female wanted in connection with this incident in the area of Maryland Street and Broadway.  The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
 
As a result of her alleged involvement, Clarissa Dawn PONACE, 29 years of Winnipeg has been charged with:

  • Second Degree Murder
  • Arson Endanger Life
  • Fail to Comply Recognizance X 4 and Fail to Comply with Probation X 2

 PONACE has been detained in custody.
 
No further information will be provided at this time as theinvestigation is continuingby the Homicide Unit.
