Break-In and Theft Investigations Arrest – C14-245828
On October 31, 2014 at approximately 5:20 p.m., a male suspect attended to a hotel located in the 700 block of Main Street. While there, he waited for staff to leave the cash register unattended at which time he reached over the counter and removed an undisclosed amount of cash. He left unnoticed.  
 
On November 15, 2014 the same suspect attended to a jewellery store located in the 900 block of Main Street. While staff was distracted, the male reached behind the counter and removed two valuable rings without being seen. He then left the business. 
 
Surveillance footage of the theft was made public.
 
On November 17, 2014 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., a pharmacy located in the 700 block of Main Street was broken into on two occasions. A window was smashed and a large quantity of medication was stolen. 
 
Due to the investigative efforts by Patrol members and District 3 Detectives, the suspect was identified and arrested on November 22, 2014.
 
The stolen rings and some of the medication were recovered.
 
Kyle Kenneth DESMARAIS, 30 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Break Enter & Theft x 2
Theft Under $5000.00
Theft Over $5000.00
Fail to Comply Condition Recognizance x 2
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
 
Stabbing Investigation Arrest – C14-249649
During the early morning hours on November 22, 2014, officers responded to the area of the 400 block of Maryland Street due to a stabbing incident involving a 22 year-old male victim.
 
It was determined that a drinking party had taken place which resulted in two males becoming involved in a dispute. An 18 year-old male produced a knife and stabbed the victim multiple times.
 
The victim was transported to hospital in unstable condition, later upgraded to stable.
 
Richard George PAUL, 18 years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with Aggravated Assault due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
A 16 year-old female was also taken into custody. While in custody, the female lunged and physically assaulted an officer.
 
She has been charged with Assault a Peace Officer and remanded into custody.
