Public Mischief Arrest – C14-237485
On November 5, 2014 at approximately 7:25 p.m., officers were dispatched to a residence located in the 300 block of Flora Avenue regarding the report of a firearm discharge.
 
Initially, information was provided indicating that someone had been shot and as a result, numerous police resources were deployed including, Uniform Patrol, Canine, Air1 and members of the Tactical Support Team.
 
Attending members secured the area at which time efforts were made to contact the occupant(s) of the residence. Officers verbally made contact with and identified a distraught male.
 
At approximately 8:50 p.m., members of the Tactical Support Team entered the home and safely took the male into custody.  
 
A search of the residence revealed that no firearm discharge took place and no one was injured. It was also determined that the male occupant made a false report to police.
 
The male was observed to be intoxicated while displaying aggressive, non-compliant behaviour toward officers.
 
Larry Dwayne MCCLOY, 62 years-old has been charged with Public Mischief due to his alleged involvement.
 
He was remanded into custody. 
 
 
Update - Fraud Investigation Arrest – C14-204414
As previously released -Between September 2nd and 12th, 2014, a male suspect met two adult females via a dating website, became involved in two separate, yet brief relationships and defrauded them of approximately $27,000.00.
 
The investigation has revealed that the suspect would befriend the females for a period of time and gain their trust. The suspect would then access the victim's personal banking information and deposit fraudulent cheques, then withdrawing the funds via several ATM transactions.
 
The suspect continued his crime spree over a period of time consisting of a variety of thefts involving vehicles, stolen licence plates and other property.
 
Members of the Division 11 Crime Unit were notified and entered into an investigation.
 
On September 29, 2014, Kevin James ALDERTON, 37 years-old was arrested in the vicinity of the 400 block of Osborne Street.
 
Some of the offences he has been charged with due to his alleged involvement are as follows: 
 
Fraud over $5000.00
Possess Property Obtained by Crime
Theft over $5000.00
Possession of an identity document
Fail to comply condition undertaking
 
He was remanded into custody.
 
The investigation continued by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit.
 
New information has since come to light identifying four additional victims.
 
Investigators applied for and obtained a warrant for the arrest of ALDERTON on November 5, 2014. He was arrested at the Provincial Remanded Centre and charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
 
Fraud Under $5000.00 x 4
Use a Forged Document x 4
Use of Credit Card
Possession of Credit Card
 
ALDERTON was returned to the Provincial Remand Centre where he remains in custody.
