Assault Update – Request For Assistance –
C14-239518

As previously released, on November 8, 2014 at approximately 7:00 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of Donald Street and Assiniboine Avenue for the report of check wellbeing event.
 
A female, the victim of an apparent assault, was located on the river walk east of the Midtown Bridge.  She was transported to hospital in unstable condition.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Homicide Unit. They are asking anyone who may have had interaction with the victim prior to her being discovered to contact them at (204) 986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
 
She is described as: Aboriginal, 16 years, 5'8" tall, 180 pounds with dark brown hair past the shoulders.  She was wearing black leggings, white runners, dark coloured North Face hooded jacket and a black 'WUTANG' hoody.  She was last seen in the area of the Midtown Bridge and Donald Street, at the rear of 340 Assiniboine Avenue heading towards the river walk.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank the media and public for any information they are able to provide that may assist in the  identification of the suspect(s) responsible for this crime.
 
 
Sexual Assault – C14-239479
On November 8, 2014 shortly before 4:30 a.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Service were dispatched for the report of a sexual assault.
 
Officers met with the 23-year-old victim who related that at approximately 2:30 a.m. she met two unknown males in the area of Portage Avenue and Sherbrook Street.  The males forced her to the east back lane of Sherbrook Street just north of Portage Avenue where they proceeded to commit a serious sexual assault upon her.  The victim was eventually able to break free and run to a nearby residence where police were summoned.
 
Suspect #1 is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years, 5'8" tall, 200 pounds with a chubby build.  He was wearing a dark jacket and jeans.
 
Suspect #2 is described as: Aboriginal in appearance, approximately 25 years, tall with a thin build.  He was wearing dark clothing including a toque.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this matter or the identity of the suspects is asked to contact investigators at (204) 986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at (204) 786-TIPS (8477).
