Serious Motor Vehicle Collision Involving Pedestrians – C15-40832
On February 27, 2015 at approximately 12:15 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service were requested to attend a restaurant located in 1500 block of Regent Avenue West regarding a male and female refusing to pay their bill.
 
Prior to police arrival, the couple left the business in an intoxicated state and proceeded to cross Regent Avenue near Stapon Road in northbound direction. They successfully crossed all east and westbound lanes until they were struck by a westbound truck travelling in the curb lane.
 
The 41-year-old female pedestrian was transported from the scene in critical condition. She has been upgraded to guarded condition. A 38-year-old male pedestrian sustained non-life threatening injuries and is in stable condition.
 
Members of the Central Traffic Unit were notified and continue to investigate. Road closures were in effect for several hours. They have since been re-opened to all traffic. Thank you for your patience.

Robbery Arrest – C15-40690
On February 26, 2015 at approximately 8:30 p.m., a 15-year-old female was approached by an unknown male while in the area of the 1000 block of Manitoba Avenue.
 
The suspect grabbed the victim from behind while in possession of a knife and demanded money. The victim fled the area after dropping her phone and contacted police. The suspect also fled while in possession of the victim's phone. 
 
A call was subsequently made to the victim's phone at which time the suspect answered. It was at this time the suspect requested $100.00 for the return of the phone.
 
Officers attended to the area of Selkirk Avenue and McPhillips Street as directed by the suspect. When police were observed the suspect fled however, he was apprehended a short time later.
 
The suspect was taken into custody and members of the District 3 Crime Unit continued to investigate.
 
Obediah COURCHENE, 24-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:
 
Robbery
Fail to comply with probation order
 
He was remanded into custody.
