Homicide Investigation - Body Located On Riverbank – C15-122356
As previously released -On June 12, 2015 at approximately 5:35 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the banks of the Red River in the area of Lombard Avenue and Waterfront Drive regarding a body located.
 
It was determined that an off-duty Winnipeg Police Service member located the deceased near the water's edge.
 
The deceased male has been identified as 49-year-old, Jason Stinson of Beausejour, Manitoba. As a result of the completed autopsy, it has been determined that STINSON was shot while in the area of the banks of the Red River near Lombard Avenue and Waterfront Drive (Steven Juba Park) during daytime hours on Friday June 12th.
 
Due to the on-going investigation, Detectives have determined that STINSON was previously the victim of an apparent assault on June 5, 2015 at approximately 7:00 p.m. while near the banks of the Red River in the 900 block of Kildonan Drive. STINSON sustained significant injuries requiring medical attention.
 
Anyone with information regarding the Kildonan Drive assault incident on June 5, 2015 is encouraged to call police.
 
Investigators are requesting the public's assistance regarding STINSON'S whereabouts and activities on Friday June 12, 2015, specifically while in the area of Steven Juba Park.

Sexual Assault Investigation – C15-129868
On June 22, 2015, during the early morning hours, a 19 year-old female left a business located in the 700 block of Corydon Avenue and began walking on Wellington Crescent on route to a friend's residence.
 
While walking, she was grabbed from behind in a bear hug and knocked to the ground. It was at this time a serious sexual assault occurred.
 
The victim eventually fled to a nearby apartment and police were notified.  
   
The suspect is described as: male, mid 20's, 5'5"-5'7" tall and slim build.
 
The investigation is continuing by members of the Sex Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6245 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
 
 
Robbery Investigation – C15-130175
On June 22, 2015 at approximately 2:50 p.m., officers responded to a financial institution located in the 1800 block of Portage Avenue regarding a robbery that just occurred.
 
A lone male suspect entered the bank and confronted staff. An undisclosed amount of cash was obtained and the suspect fled.
 
He is described as: male, 5'6"-5'7" tall, 145-155 pounds, late teens - early 20's, thin build and short light brown hair.
 
Members of the Major Crimes Unit continue to investigate. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call investigators at 204-986-6508 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
