As released earlier, investigators arrested Guido AMSEL in relation to the River Avenue explosion on July 3rd, and the Washington Avenue explosive device discovered on July 4th.
AMSEL was charged with two counts of attempt murder, one count of aggravated assault, and a number of charges related to the possession of explosives and was remanded into custody.
As previously reported, on the evening of July 5th police discovered another explosive device at 280 Stradbrook Avenue, the law firm of Orle Bargen Davidson LLP.
On July 6th members of the Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of the Firearms Investigative Analysis Section (FIAS), executed a search warrant at AMSEL's residence in the 600 block of Pandora Avenue. The search resulted in the seizure of a rifle and ammunition.
On July 22nd members of the Major Crimes Unit arrested AMSEL in relation to the Stradbrook incident and the firearm & ammunition located at his home. He has been further charged with:
- Attempt Murder
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- With Intent to Cause Bodily Harm, Cause an Explosive Substance to Explode
- Unlawful Possession of Explosives
- Store Firearm or Restricted Weapon Contrary to Regulations
AMSEL remains in custody.
Theft Investigation R15-45015
On June 15, 2015, the Winnipeg Police Service received the report of a theft that had occurred at a business located in the 600 block of Notre Dame Avenue.
The complainant reported that she had left her purse at the business and when she returned, found that it had been stolen. Within the purse was a substantial amount of traveller's cheques along with passports and other important documentation.
The female below pictured below is a person of interest and investigators are seeking assistance in identifying her.
