Assault with a Weapon Arrest – C15-226672
On October 27, 2015 at approximately 5:45 p.m., a male boarded a City of Winnipeg transit bus near the intersection of Portage Avenue and Vaughan Street.

Upon entering the bus, the intoxicated passenger proceeded to throw a handful of change at the receptacle, causing some of the coins to fall onto the floor.

Due to the circumstances, the driver asked the male if he had the required amount of fare in order to ride the bus. It was at this time the male assaulted the driver in the upper body. A struggle erupted causing the driver and the suspect to fall onto the floor of the bus.

The suspect eventually fled the area on foot. Witnesses provided officers with information regarding the incident and current whereabouts of the male suspect involved.

At approximately 5:00 p.m., the suspect was located by officers in the area of the 400 block of Spence Street. He was placed under arrest at that time.

Further investigation revealed two additional victims. It was reported that the suspect previously threatened to stab them while in the area of the 400 block of Balmoral Street. No one was injured.

William James WEISS, 26-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:

Assault
Assault with a Weapon x 2
Uttering Threats Cause Death or Bodily Harm x 2
Carrying Concealed Weapon Prohibited Device or Ammunition
Possession of a Weapon

He was remanded into custody.
