2015 Operation Impact Campaign
The Winnipeg Police Service is pleased to be participating in "Operation Impact".  This national public safety initiative sponsored by the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police (CACP) and member agencies of the CACP Traffic Committee from across Canada in support of Canada's Road Safety Strategy 2015, has a goal of making Canada's roads the safest in the world by 2015.  The program's aim is to save lives and reduce injuries on our roadways which, with the involvement of the driving public, is an achievable goal.

Winnipeg's most recent statistics include 10 fatalities on our streets in 2014, a contribution to thousands of traffic victims throughout Canada annually.

Driver's behaviours such as impaired driving, seatbelt use, distracted driving, and all manners of aggressive driving play a significant role in these statistics.  As a result, the Winnipeg Police Service will be dedicating the weekend of October 9th to October 12th to increased enforcement in these areas.  With more people travelling over the long weekend, the frequency of motor vehicle collisions increase and often includes the loss or serious injury of someone's loved one.

Please drive safe and do your part in ensuring that this Thanksgiving is a happy one for all your fellow motorists.
