Homicide Arrest – C15-260736
On December 11, 2015, shortly after 8:30 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to a hotel in the 400 block of Westwood Drive for the report of an injured male.

Responding members located an adult male suffering from injuries to his upper body sustained from an apparent assault.  He was transported to hospital in critical condition.

Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued with the investigation.  It was learned that the victim, who was a guest at the hotel, had been assaulted in his room the previous night.

A suspect was identified and on December 22, 2015, he was located and arrested without incident.

Darcy Jerome BEARDY, 29 years of St Theresa Point, MB was charged with Aggravated Assault for his alleged involvement and was later detained in custody.

On January 5, 2016, the victim, identified as 57-year-old George Gabriel FLETT of St Theresa Point, MB succumbed to his injuries.

After consultation with the Crown, a warrant of arrest for 2nd Degree Murder was obtained for BEARDY.

On January 13th, investigators arrested and processed BEARDY on the strength of the warrant after which he was returned to custody.
