Update – Attempt Murder Arrest – C16-0010380 C16-0010386
As previously released - On January 16, 2016 at approximately 3:40 a.m., members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a robbery in progress at a gas station located in the 1700 block of Kenaston Boulevard.

It's been determined that a lone male suspect attended to the business and confronted a female employee. The suspect concealed his identity and was armed with a gun when he robbed the business.

During the robbery, the suspect discharged a firearm before fleeing in a vehicle. No one was injured as a result.

At approximately 4:10 a.m., officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of Regent Avenue West and Stapon Road. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed having no regard for public safety and officers pursued.

The suspect then stopped his vehicle and discharged a firearm in the direction of police. Involved officer(s) also came to a stop and exchanged fire. No one was injured and the pursuit continued.

The suspect eventually came to a stop in the area of Springfield Road and a dead end, west of Lagimodiere Boulevard. The suspect was taking into custody due to the efforts of Canine and Patrol members.

The investigation continued by members of the Homicide Unit, Major Crimes Unit and Forensic Services Unit.

Anthony Joseph RAPOSO, 51-years-old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:

Attempt Murder x 3
Robbery with a Firearm
Disguise with Intent
Discharge of Firearm in Reckless Manner x 2
Point Firearm x 3
Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
Possess Goods Obtained by Crime
Possess Loaded Prohibited Firearm
Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
Carry Concealed Weapon

He remains in custody.

The Independent Investigation Unit of Manitoba has been notified, pursuant to the Manitoba Police Services Act.
