FESTIVE SEASON CHECKSTOP PROGRAM - WEEK #4 (December 25th- January 1st) RESULTS

The Winnipeg Police Service Central Traffic Unit has provided the results from the fourth week of the Festive Season Check Stop Program.

432 - Vehicles stopped
23 - Roadside breath tests administered
4 - ASD warnings (72hr. suspension)
15 - Impaired Driving Arrests
11 - Drive Impaired/ Drive Over 80 mg%
4 - Refusal charges
7 - Provincial Offence Notices

        3070 - Vehicles stopped
139 - Roadside breath tests administered
24 - ASD warnings (72hr. suspension)
56 - Impaired Driving Arrests
35 - Drive Impaired/ Drive Over 80 mg%
21 - Refusal charges
137 - Provincial Offence Notices

Average Blood Alcohol Concentration - 160 mg%
45 males
11 females
Average age - 32


Attempted Abduction – C16-0002634
On January 4, 2016 at approximately 6:00 p.m., a 33-year-old female was walking home when she was confronted by two unknown males in a vehicle travelling near Sherbrook Street and Broadway.

The passenger exited the vehicle and grabbed the victim's arm demanding that she get in. The victim fought back and was able to flee the area.

The suspects are described as:

Passenger – male, early twenties, 6'0" tall and fair complexion.

Driver – male, average build.

Suspect vehicle – Red, 4 door car.

The investigation is continuing by members of the Major Crimes Unit. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6219 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
