Homicide Arrest – Cooper James NEMETH Investigation - R16-11373
On February 15, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service requested the public's assistance in locating 17-year-old Cooper James NEMETH who had last been seen during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 14, 2016, in the Valley Gardens area of Winnipeg.
 
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service Missing Persons Unit led the investigation, while family, friends and community members came together to volunteer and search throughout Valley Gardens, North Kildonan and other areas of the city.
 
With the vast amount of information provided by the public, members of the Homicide Unit were brought in to assist.
 
Investigation led to the identity of a suspect and a warrant of arrest for 2nd Degree Murder was obtained for Nicholas BELL-WRIGHT, 22 years of Winnipeg.
 

On the evening of February 20th, information led investigators to a residence in the Valley Gardens area where Cooper was located, deceased.
 
In the early morning hours of February 21st, BELL-WRIGHT was located and arrested without incident.
   
The investigation is continuing.
 
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to thank members of the public and media for their assistance in this tragic occurrence.
