Historical Homicide Investigation Arrest – Simone Sanderson
– C12-176500
As previously released, the Winnipeg Police Service Homicide has been investigating the murder of Simone Sanderson. Sanderson's body was discovered September 2, 2012 in a vacant lot in the area of Main Street and Burrows Avenue.

Assisted by many support units and officers, the Homicide Unit has worked diligently over the past three and a half years to bring a resolution to this homicide.

As result of this effort, on April 25, 2016 investigators arrested:

-        Kyllan James Ellis
28-years-old, of Lorette, Manitoba

Ellis has been charged with Second Degree Murder and was detained in custody.


Homicide Investigation Arrests – C16-81490
On April 25, 2016, at approximately 12:30 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to check the well-being of an injured male in the one hundred block of Colony Street.

Responding units located a male victim in his forties with serious upper-body injuries. He was transported to hospital and later pronounced deceased.

With the assistance of the Canine Unit, four suspects were arrested shortly after in the area of Canora Street and Picardy Avenue. As a result of the investigation by members of both the Major Crime and Homicide Units, the following individuals from Winnipeg have been each charged with Manslaughter:

-       Silvia Noreen McKAY, 39-years-old
-       Kirby James CROW, 28-years-old
-       Rachel Lynn LITTLE, 32-years-old
-       Dennis Ashley BAPTISTE, 30-years-old

The accused were all detained in custody.


Homicide Investigation Update – Arrest – C16-80056
As previously released, the Winnipeg Police Service is currently investigating a homicide in the 500 block of Redwood Avenue.

The victim has been identified as Christine Stoyko, 39-years-old, of Winnipeg.

The investigation by members of the Winnipeg Police Homicide Unit has resulted in the arrest of a 37-year-old male.

Kevin Grant KLASSEN has been charged with:
-       Second Degree Murder
-       Fail to Comply with Probation Order x 2
-       Fail to Comply Recognizance (Protection Order)

Klassen has been detained in custody. 


Fatal Motor Vehicle Collision – C16-81903
On April 26, 2016, at 12:55 a.m., police members were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on the 900 block of Nairn Avenue.  Two adult male cyclists were travelling eastbound in the curb lane when one of them was struck by a vehicle. The vehicle subsequently fled the scene.

A 38 year old male was transported to hospital where he was pronounced deceased. 

Central Traffic Unit Investigators are seeking witnesses that may have been in the area at the time of the collision.Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Traffic Investigators at (204) 986-6271. 


Serious MVC – C16-81811
On April 25th, 2016, at approximately 9:30 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision involving two pedestrians near the intersection of Keewatin Street and Pacific Avenue.

The driver of the vehicle was travelling northbound on Keewatin Street.  A 56-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman were attempting to cross Keewatin Street when both were struck by a passing vehicle. The male victim was transported to hospital in critical condition. 

The collision is still under investigation.
