Threat Investigation – C16-92548
On May 9, 2016, members of the Winnipeg Police Service, including School Resource Officers, responded to Sturgeon Heights Collegiate located on Ness Avenue regarding a general written threat located within the school.
   
Since that time, numerous police resources have been working with school administration to determine the nature of the threat and who may be responsible.
   
Interviews are on-going and the safety of the students and staff is the highest of priorities.
   
Members of the Winnipeg Police Service will remain in the area of the school throughout the day.    
   

Update - Aggravated Assault Arrest – C16-88860
As previously released -On May 4, 2016 approximately 7:40 p.m., the Winnipeg Police Service responded to a bus shelter located in the 1400 block of Portage Avenue regarding an assault.
   
Attending members discovered that a 63 year old male requested that an unknown male stop smoking or exit the bus shelter. The unknown male responded by knocking the victim to the ground and continued to assault him in the upper body. The male then armed himself with a skateboard and proceeded to strike the victim several times.
   
The victim sustained multiple injuries requiring medical attention.
   
The investigation continued by members of the West District Crime Unit which resulted in a public advisory requesting the public's assistance.
   
Due to public support, the suspect was identified and an arrest was made. On May 10, 2016 officers attended to a residence in Westdale and arrested:
   
Justin James CROWE, 24 years
   
He has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement: 

  -       Aggravated Assault
  -       Possession of a Weapon
  -       Fail to Comply Condition of Recognizance x 3

  He was remanded into custody.
