Homicide Arrests – Update – C16-94952
As previously released, on May 12, 2106, at approximately 6:30 p.m. emergency personnel responded to a report of a male shot in the 600 block of Wellington Ave.

An adult male suffering gunshot wounds to the upper body was located in a residence at this location. He was transported to hospital in critical. He was later pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as:
-  George PRIESTON
29-years-old, of Winnipeg

Two adult males have been arrested and will face charges of:
-  First Degree Murder
-  Fail to Comply with Recognizance x 2
-  Cruelty to Animals

These males have been identified as:
-  Raymond DUCHARME,
25-years-old, of Winnipeg

-  Shawn POITRA,
25-years-old, of Winnipeg

Both accused are detained in custody.

Investigators continue to search for weapon used in this incident.

Assault with Weapon – C16-95866
On May 13, 2016, at approximately 11:00 p.m., Winnipeg Police responded to the 500 block of Portage Avenue for a report of a male who had been stabbed.

The victim, a male in his mid-twenties, had suffered a non-life-threatening stab wound to his upper body. He had also been attacked with pepper spray. The victim was conveyed to hospital where he was treated and released.

The victim advised that he was attacked by four unknown male suspects. Suspect descriptions are unavailable at this time.

This incident is being investigated by members of the Division 11 Crime Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).


Break and Enter/Robbery Arrests – C16-93363
On May 11, 2016, at approximately 12:15 p.m. Winnipeg Police responded to a robbery in area of Alexander Avenue and Blaine Street. A 19-year-old female was walking in the area when she was confronted by four suspects who demanded she turn over her personal property. One of the suspects was armed with a knife.

The suspects were able to obtain some of the victim's personal items. The victim was able to flee without being physically injured.

On May 13, 2016, at approximately 9:15 a.m. three suspects attended to a home in the 300 block of Redwood Avenue. The suspects, with their faces covered and all armed with knives, forced their way into the home where they confronted the four, adult, female residents.

The suspects fled with a small amount of personal property. None of the victims were physically injured during the incident.

On May 13, 2106, at approximately 12:20 p.m., general patrol units located a stolen Honda Pilot in the 300 block of Magnus Avenue and arrested the four occupants. The four suspects were linked to the above noted incidents. In addition, the suspects were linked to 11 residential and commercial break-ins that occurred between May 6 and May 13, 2016. The locations are as follows:

-  First 100 block of Athlone Drive
-  First 100 block of Agnes Arnold Place
-  First 100 block of Arthur Wright Crescent
-  First 100 block Marygrove Crescent
-  700 block of Adamdell Crescent
-  First 100 block of Waterfront Road
-  1800 block of Ellice Avenue
-  First 100 block of Diane Drive, West St. Paul, Manitoba
-  200 block of Tu Pelo Avenue
-  500 block of Spruce Drive, R.M. of St. Clements
-  5000 block of Highway #9, Lockport, Manitoba

In total, approximately $100,000 of property and vehicles were stolen in these incidents.

The four accused, all from Winnipeg, are identified as:
-  Kyle Bradley DESMARAIS, 23-years-old
-  Conrad Victor STAPLES, 23-years-old
-  Levi River WOODHOUSE, 18-years-old
-  Taylor Starr FONTAINE, 19-years-old

They have been charged with:
-       Break, Enter and Theft x 11
-       Robbery x 2
-       Disguise with Intent

All of the accused were detained in custody.
