Closure of the Public Safety Building
The Winnipeg Police Service would like to announce that as of tomorrow morning, the public should attend to the new Headquarters Building on 266 Graham Avenue regarding any business they may have with the WPS.  On Wednesday, June 22 at  7:00 a.m., the Public Safety Building will be closed to the public.  Officers will be on hand until that time to provide assistance that people may require.

Starting tomorrow, if you need a record check, that service will be provided at HQ from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.  If you need fingerprints, that service will be provided between 12:30 and 3:30 in the in the afternoon.

During the past 7 months, more than 1300 members were moved into HQ from facilities across the city.  That included most of the divisions and units within the Winnipeg Police Service.

Construction crews began construction on The Public Safety Building in 1965.  At the time, it housed the Provincial Remand Centre, provincial courts, and most of the employees of the Winnipeg Police Department, considering amalgamation didn't take place until 1974.  Even though today we are announcing the closure of the PSB, we will holding our official PSB Farewell and HQ Ribbon Cutting on July 5th.
