Homicide – Arrest: C16-138707
As previously released - On July 5, 2016, at approximately 3:50 a.m., emergency personnel responded to the area of Portage Avenue and Donald Street regarding an injured individual. The victim was transported to hospital but succumbed to his injuries.

On July 15, 2016, Winnipeg Police Homicide investigators arrested a male regarding this incident. The suspect was arrested at the Winnipeg Remand Centre where he was being detained on unrelated charges.

Geordie Douglas WOOD, 22 years, of St. Theresa Point, Manitoba, has been charged with Second Degree Murder.

Wood was remanded back into custody.

Fire Investigation – C16-146922
On July 15, 2016, at approximately 10:00 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a single-family residence located in the 840 block of Lyon Street regarding a working fire.

One adult female was transported to hospital in unstable condition. Her condition has since been upgraded to stable.

Total damage has been estimated at $200,000. 

The exact cause of the fire is still being investigated by members of the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service, however, it does not appear to be suspicious in nature.

Fire Investigation – C16-147165
On July 16, 2016, at approximately 4:15 a.m. emergency personnel responded to a fire in a single-family residence in the 500 block of Young Street.

Two adults, a male and female, were transported to hospital. Both are listed in stable condition.

Two males, an adult and a youth were both treated and released.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.Anyone with further information regarding this investigation is asked to contact investigators at 204-986-6668 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
