Arson Investigation – C16-145121
On July 14th, 2016 at approximately 9:25 p.m., emergency personnel responded to a church in the 1100 block of Main Street for the report of a working fire. No injuries were reported. 
 
Initial damages are estimated to be in excess of $1,000,000.
   
The fire is deemed suspicious in nature. This investigation is continuing by members of the Arson Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-6813 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Robbery – Arrest: C16-145638
On July 14, 2016 Winnipeg general patrol units arrested a 24-year-old male from Winnipeg.
 
 
Christian SWAMPY charged with the following offences:
 - Robbery with a Firearm
 - Robbery
 - Disguise with Intent x 2
 - Utter Threats
 - Theft Under
 - Fail to Comply Probation Order
   
Swampy was detained in custody.
   
At approximately 9:30 a.m. a male wearing sunglasses and baseball hat to conceal his identity entered a taxi cab in the area of the 1400 block of Logan Avenue. The passenger  then told the driver that he had a weapon, and was going to steal the cab. The driver fled, however, the male was unsuccessful in stealing the cab.
   
The suspect then stole a bicycle, valued at $800 from an area business. At approximately 10:20 the suspect attended to a financial institution in the 300 block of Main Street. Once inside he threated an employee and demanded cash.
   
Police arrived and were able to arrest the male without incident. Swampy's charges relate to both of these incidents.
   
   
Robbery – Arrest: C16-146247
On July 14, 2016 at 11:45 p.m. members of the Winnipeg Police Street Crime Unit were conducting targeted patrols (Smart Policing Initiative) in the area of Broadway and Furby Street. It was at this time officers observed two male suspects assault a male victim.
   
After a brief foot chase, one suspect was arrested, however the second suspect was able to flee the area. The victim was treated for superficial injuries by members of the Winnipeg Police Fire Paramedic Service.
   
Scott Jason John GIBBS, 24-years-old, has been charged with the following offences and detained in custody:
 - Robbery
 - Fail to Comply with Probation x 4
   
This investigation is continuing by members of the Street Crime Unit. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call 204-986-8430 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
