Fatal Fire Investigation – C16-139998
On July 6, 2016, at approximately 6:00 p.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 200 block of Aberdeen Avenue for the report of a fire in a single family residence.
   
A male resident in his fifties was transported to hospital in critical condition, however, he later succumbed to his injuries.
   
It appears that the fire was a result of cooking in the kitchen and is not deemed suspicious in nature.
   
Fatal Fire Investigation – C16-140291
On July 7, 2016, at approximately 1:40 a.m. emergency personnel were dispatched to the 100 block of Austin Street North for a working fire in a multi-family residence.
   
Several people were transported to hospital as a result of the fire. Two of the victims were pronounced deceased.
   
The cause of the fire has not been determined. Anyone with information that may assist investigators is asked to call (204) 986-6222 or Crime Stoppers at 204-786-TIPS (8477).
   
Body Recovered From Red River – C16-139921
On July 6, 2016 at approximately 3:50 p.m., emergency personnel responded to the banks of the Red River in the area of St. Vital Park regarding a body being located.   
                                          
The body was eventually recovered by members of the Winnipeg Police Service River Patrol Unit.
   
At this time, the deceased is identified as a male. The identity of the deceased will not be released, pending notification of next of kin. An autopsy is pending and the cause of death is unconfirmed.
