Stolen Vehicle Investigation Arrest – C16-173244

On August 20, 2016 at approximately 11:30 a.m., a male suspect attended to a gas bar located in the 1400 block of Henderson Highway.

   
The suspect then confronted a female customer who was sitting in the passenger seat of a Jeep Wrangler at the time. The suspect, who was riding a bicycle, entered the vehicle and sat in the driver's seat.
   
The suspect attempted to drive off, however the owner of the vehicle exited the gas bar kiosk and managed to turn the vehicle off and retrieve her keys. The suspect kicked at the driver side door and fled the area.
   
The suspect continued on a crime spree over the next couple of hours.
   
11:45 a.m. – Broke into a residence located in the 300 block of Springfield Road – Keys were taken and a Chevrolet Silverado was stolen.
   
12:00 p.m. – While operating the stolen truck, the suspect struck a parked Dodge Caravan in the area of McLeod Avenue and Henderson Highway and fled.
   
12:40 p.m. – Still operating the stolen truck, the suspect struck a Freightliner tow truck while in the area of Redonda Street and Gunn Road. He fled the scene.
   
12:49 p.m. – The suspect was observed by a member of the Winnipeg Police Service operating the stolen truck while in the area of Pandora Avenue West and Moroz Street.
   
Efforts to safely stop the vehicle were made, however the suspect proceeded to cause property damage in the area of the 600 block of Melrose Avenue West including colliding with an occupied cruiser car.
   
The suspect proceeded to flee the area at a high rate of speed having no regard for public safety.
   
At approximately 3:10 p.m., the suspect attended to and broke into a collision centre located on Owen Street. Once inside, car keys were taken along with other valuables. The suspect then stole a Honda Pilot and drove it through an overhead door causing significant damage. The Honda was rendered inoperable at which time the suspect entered a Ford F150.
   
At approximately 3:40 p.m., emergency personnel located the suspect passed out inside the truck. He was taken into custody, treated and processed accordingly. The investigation continued by members of the East District Crime Unit with the assistance of Central Traffic and General Patrol.    
   
A 29 year old male of Winnipeg has been charged with the following offences due to his alleged involvement:
   
  Robbery
  Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon
  Flight while Pursued by Peace Officer
  Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
  Break & Enter with Intent x 2
  Possession of Break-In Instruments
  Theft of Motor Vehicle
  Mischief Over $5000.00
   
  Highway Traffic Act
  Fail to remain at the scene of an accident and exchange particulars x 3
  Drive without licence or with invalid licence
  Driving While Ability Impaired
   
He was detained.
   
   
Impaired Driving/Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Arrest –
C16-173327
On August 20, 2016 at approximately 3:40 p.m., a Gold Dodge Caravan was being driven in the area of Forks Market Road by 26 year old female.
   
The female began driving on the sidewalk and appeared to be attempting to hit pedestrians who were walking nearby. The driver observed a security guard in the area at which time she verbally threatened to cause harm to him, before driving off.
   
Several minutes later, members of the Winnipeg Police Service observed the van leaving the Forks area while turning southbound onto Main Street.
   
The vehicle was safely stopped and the lone female occupant was arrested. While in custody, the driver assaulted two members of the Winnipeg Police Service.
   
Delia Ashley CLARKE, 26 years old of God's Lake Narrows, Manitoba has been charged with the following due to her alleged involvement:
   
  Driving while Ability Impaired
  Fail or Refuse to Provide Sample – Breath
  Uttering Threats – Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  Dangerous Operation Motor Vehicle
  Assault Peace Officer x 2
  Driving While Disqualified x 2
   
She was detained.
