UPDATE: ARREST (Public Advisory - Males Wanted - C16-249563)   

Shooting Investigations

On January 6, 2017, at approximately 11:50 p.m., members of the Major Crimes Unit, with the assistance of District 3 patrol officers and members of the Tactical Support Team arrested James Andrew Jewels, 26 years.

Jewels was charged with:
- Attempt Murder x 2
- Kidnapping x 2
- Robbery with a Firearm x 2
- Robbery
Jewels was detained in custody.

As previously released - On November 28, 2016, the Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP responded to two separate shooting incidents involving three victims.

The first incident occurred in the 400 block of Pritchard Avenue involving a male who was shot and critically injured. The 39-year-old male victim has been identified as Benjamin Franklin TRAVERSE. He has since succumbed to his injuries.

Prior to fleeing, the suspects robbed two additional victims and then forced them into a vehicle and drove them to the area of Raleigh Street between Glenway Avenue and Foxgrove Avenue in East St. Paul, Manitoba. It was at this location where the two were shot before the suspects fled the area in the same vehicle.

Due to the investigative efforts by members of the Winnipeg Police Service and RCMP, it was determined that these shooting incidents are related.

Winnipeg Police continue to ask for the public's assistance in locating a second suspect in relation to this incident.



Michael Tylor FLESS, 30 years, Caucasian, 5'4" tall, 138 lbs. and medium build. Wanted: Second Degree Murder, Attempt Murder x 2, Kidnapping, Robbery and Firearm-related offences. 

Fless is NOT to be approached as he may be armed and is considered dangerous. If located call your local police immediately.
