Project Central – Arrests - C17-18893 C17-18895
In the fall of 2016, members of the Division 11 Community Support Unit (CSU) and officers from the Street Crime Unit (SCU) commenced Project Central.

Project Central was initiated due to significant criminal activity associated to the buying and selling of illicit drugs by groups of individuals in the central part of Winnipeg.

Beginning in September 2016, officers collaborated in an effort to identify suspects involved, including specific locations.

On January 27, 2017, officers from Division 11 CSU and SCU, assisted by District 3 & 4 CSU and the Tactical Support Team executed search warrants at three residences within the City of Winnipeg. The locations are as follows:

* 200 block of Beacon Street
* 600 block of Pacific Avenue
* 500 block of Leila Avenue  

As a result of the warrants executed, the following was located and seized:

* $8,500.00 cash
* Cocaine with an estimated street value of $18,000.00
* Crystal Methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $2,500.00
* Marihuana with an estimated street value of $360.00
* 1.1 kg of a white (unknown) powder (lab tests pending)
* Loaded sawed-off rifle
* Several thousand dollars' worth of clothing and jewellery

Due to these efforts, 14 individuals have been arrested and charged with numerous drug and weapon related offences.

Project Central is continuing its efforts in dealing with drug related issues through collaboration and proactive policing.
