Saturday, February 18, 2017             Robbery Arrest - C16-271640     Financial Institutions:     Between December 2016 and February 2017, members of the Winnipeg Police Service responded to three bank robberies involving a lone male suspect.     On two occasions, the suspect indicated that he was armed with a gun and demanded money. During the incidents, he attempted to conceal his identity and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.     The incidents are as follows:     December 16, 2016, approximately 5:20 p.m. - Bank located in the 500 block of Sargent Avenue     December 30, 2016, approximately 3:50 p.m. - Bank located in the 600 block of Osborne Street     February 14, 2017, approximately 3:50 p.m. - Bank located in the 600 block of Osborne Street     Members of the Major Crimes Unit continued to investigate and as a result, a suspect was identified.     On February 17, 2017 at approximately 10:40 a.m., officers located the suspect in the area of the 300 block of Portage Avenue and placed him under arrest.     Ortez Elmer ARGUETA, 35 years old of Winnipeg has been charged with the following due to his alleged involvement:     Armed Robbery using a Firearm x 2 Disguise with Intent x 2 Robbery Unlawfully at Large Possession of a Weapon x 2 Possession of Firearm, Restricted/Prohibited Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Probation Order x 2 Uttering Threats - Cause Death or Bodily Harm Assault with a Weapon Possession of a Scheduled Substance - Cannabis     He was remanded into custody.        For further information contact either:  Constable Jason Michalyshen, Public Information Officer  Constable Rob Carver, Public Information Officer  Kelly Dehn, Manager of Public Affairs    Phone: (204) 986-3061 | Fax: (204) 986-3267 | Email: WPS-PIO@Winnipeg.ca Share this mailing with your social network by clicking on the appropriate link:       Related Winnipeg Police Service Report a Crime Online Crime Stoppers CrimeStat Unsubscribe If you do not want to receive these emails anymore, unsubscribe.    Please do not reply to this email.
